Rick Perry Support Weakening

Support for presidential hopeful Rick Perry is weakening with the Texas governor now in third place, a poll of conservative voters in Iowa indicates.

The poll, released Thursday by the American Research Group, had Perry in third with 14 percent of the vote, behind former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney at 21 percent and U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann, R-Minn., at 15 percent, UPI.com reported.

"When Perry came in, a lot of people were leaning [toward] Perry or at least looking at him very hard," Bob Vander Plaats, the head of Family Leader, socially conservative umbrella organization, told The Hill, a Washington publication.

"The first three issues he addressed were HPV, the DREAM Act and the border fence," said former Iowa Republican Party Political Director Craig Robinson. "That shows how damaging these debates have been to Perry. He's explaining and he hasn't done a very good job of it."

I still stand by Perry. Not because he is a good debater, but because he is a good man. Those who want good debaters should go listen to Slick Willie. He has done a great job as governor here in Texas, not perfect, but he has been here a long time, so a few minor mistakes are part of the game. And, of course they weren’t mistakes in many people’s eyes, but you cannot please everyone, all the time.
I’d still like to see Palin get in the race, but I suppose that is not to be. Or I’d like her to sign on as veep with Perry.
I doubt if I could ever support Romney, and since Bachmann was an IRS attack lawyer I can’t support her either. I could vote for Cain, although I doubt he will be the nominee, and I could vote for Newt, if he gets the nod, although that seems unlikely, he’d be MUCH better than what we have now.

Did you read the very last paragraph where it mentioned the word under the faded paint part?

This is a hit piece. It’s yellow journalism at it’s worst.

yellow journalism

— n
the type of journalism that relies on sensationalism and lurid exaggeration to attract readers

[C19: perhaps shortened from the phrase Yellow Kid journalism, referring to the Yellow Kid, a cartoon (1895) in the New York World, a newspaper having a reputation for sensationalism]

http://library.thinkquest.org/C0111500/spanamer/yellow.htm

Yellow Journalism

Yellow journalism, in short, is biased opinion masquerading as objective fact. Moreover, the practice of yellow journalism involved sensationalism, distorted stories, and misleading images for the sole purpose of boosting newspaper sales and exciting public opinion. It was particularly indicative of two papers founded and popularized in the late 19th century- The New York World, run by Joseph Pulitzer and The New York Journal, run by William Randolph Hearst.

Primarys are to weed out the weak condidates, its not eating our own, its vetting the people running. Some open their mouths and constantly stick their feet in it...Perry seems to be just that....The more he talks the more he exposes his true feelings.....they don’t paint a pretty picture of him....

It is NOT HIS RANCH! It is a hunting lease. You know, people go there to hunt. Hunting is big in TX. This article was written by someone who did not have the correct information as usual.

Your comments are ill informed and incorrect. He is not an open borders governor in opinion. They are open because Obama will not perform the federal duties. He has blood on his hands? What kind of idiotic comment is that?

What a slanted piece of garbage! This is NOT PERRY’S RANCH! It is a hunting lease. You know, people go there to hunt but don’t own the property. Boy you are doing your best to get someone else elected, I just haven’t figured out who yet. It is too bad that you have to engage in lies and slander to express your opinion.

So, apparently, it is Bachmann that you support. She shot herself in the foot by the vicious shrill attacks on Governor Perry and then continued. She will not get enough votes to win. The other problem is that she lacks the experience needed to serve as President. She should try being a Governor of a state first. We already have an unqualified President in the WH now.

Agree with you 100 percent. We will wind up with a candidate that can not beat Obama. Too bad Republicans can’t see the big picture.

Unless you are from TX, you really know nothing about him. If he were not a conservative, he would not have been elected three times by wide margins. I am from TX and will comment that not everyone is a good debater. I will also state, that those three so called debates, were not done well and showed little about the candidates.

Chill out, reread my post. I said ranch, or whatever it is.

I really don’t care anyway. His position on illegals is not my cup of tea.

Immigration is a federal responsibility and Obama has done nothing. If you are talking about the instate tuition, then it was passed by a veto proof majority. (only 4 NO votes) The bill was passed in 2001 and the students must apply for citizenship and pay their own tuition. They get no financial aid of any kind. There are lots of legal hispanics in TX. The legislature would NOT have passed this bill without high majority support in their districts. This bill was tuition only and not for amnesty. This is strictly a state issue. I will point out that there are a number of other states with this type of situation and several have Republican Governors. Now, I don’t know what you expect him to do to fix “immigration” It is a federal responsibility. TX uses e-verify, just passed voter ID bill, and TX catches illegals and ICE turns them loose. Blame Obama if you want to blame someone. I am from TX, so know the situation there very well.

“Unless you are from TX, you really know nothing about him. If he were not a conservative, he would not have been elected three times by wide margins.”

Been here for decades (although not born here). He was basically coronated governor when Bush-43 became prez, and has NEVER been challenged by a conservative since. That’s why he got his head handed to him in that debate and that’s why he can’t deal with Republicans who aren’t “yes-men” to him.

He also hasn’t spent time, or cared about, national or international politics and issues (except how they relate to Texas, as in EPA and open borders), which is also coming out real clear. And his A&M GPA also tells me that he’s not a fast learner. I just imagine him in debates against either Hillary or even Obama and getting his clocked cleaned on foreign policy, and believe me, they will load up on foreign policy, just to make Perry look bad.

It will be a nightmare if that guy ever gets on the national ticket.
