Iran says could deploy navy near U.S. coast: report (RED on Drudge!)

TEHRAN (Reuters) - Iran raised the prospect on Tuesday of sending military ships close to the United States' Atlantic coast, in what would be a major escalation of tensions between the long-standing adversaries.

"Like the arrogant powers that are present near our marine borders, we will also have a powerful presence close to American marine borders," the head of the Navy, Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari said, according to the official IRNA news agency.

Folks, go get the Jericho series... it might be a documentary.

I wish you hadn't said that ... and I don't even own a television.

Of course with Bambo being POTUS this won’t happen, but I wonder if the Iranians remember Operation Preying Mantis?

EMP: Remember the MIG-25 that defected to Japan in the 70s? No solid state electronics, just vacuum tubes. Question: due to lack of Soviet technology or intention to fight over a post-nuclear battlefield? Lesson: new technology is not always the sturdiest.

Netflix

LOL

I've read about EMPs. I've read about Jericho. Never done Netflix (though my 88-year-old mother does!). I'm not much into watching things, but thanks for the advice.

It's okay, I've rigged my garage as a Farraday Cage. Probably won't do so much good with the infra structure wiped out but at least my microwave should continue to work.

[ EMP - my first thought as well.

Folks, go get the Jericho series...
it might be a documentary. ]

I like the fact that Texas or the “Republic of Texas” is portrayed as “The Goos Guys” in that series.

Of course it kinda makes sense, but in the scenario the nukes were detonated onthe ground in cities so the EMP wouldn’t be nearly as bad as a space based EMP attack via short range ballistic missle over the US.

I would imagine if Iran stuck they would detonate multiple EMP payloads at once from multiple rockets top prevent us from attempting to shoot down the missles, if only one makes it through we are SOL.

This is like a squirrel tickling a grizzly’s behind with a short stick...

Anyway, if they want to send out a search party for Osama they can do it, and they may just end up joining him.

[ Better than Googling it...read the book “One Second After” ...
I’ve read it and while it is fiction, I don’t doubt that’s exactly what will happen. ]

I think about 50% of our electrical devices will be crapped out after a mid nation space based EMP. 20% will work for a while but be damaged enough to where they will fizzle out ahead of time. The rest will continue to work and will be items with more robust circitry, thinks like refrigerators will still work as they have a steel “shell” around them that is grounded and most of them have simple circitry. Microwaves may survive if they are heavy duty shielded types, cheap one will more than likely break.

The main issue will be the electrical grid. It will take a while to bring it back online and a lot of people in hospitals may die in the meantime. People who work IT jobs will be in a nightmare as they wait for new parts to get in from China.

It will be very very very bad, but not “Post apocalyptic”. Most of us will get knocked down to the 60’s after the power is restored 2-3 weeks after the initial attack. It may be the only thing that actually “Wakes up the Sleeping Giant”.

All he would do is respond with the usual, dreaded, strongly worded letter, in response.

Maybe he might even use the dreaded red Pen. That will show them we mean business. Time for a beer summit.

Well with this news, I have a great idea. Let's put our military funding on the line in a politically motivated bill.

Ignoramuses in DC just don't get it.

Could this Immanutjob moron be any more clueless?

Yeah, great idea... Venture inside of the 200 mile barrier off our coast and our military will destroy your tin can ships in a New York second. And then, to make things even more interesting (because you somehow think you can go to the UN and bash our country) we will destroy your country.

This idiot should not even be the so called President of Iran because he “pretended to get elected” by fabricating the election results.

Do not underestimate the power of the United States Military.

The most likely way for nukes to happen is suitcase. That way they can blame it on a “rogue group”. If they do it obviously by the state, then that state disappears off the map.
