Indeed. Fences control people - in both directions. People who want to control other people may make use of the tool in ways it was not intended. As the parasites grow in number, they may object to the sustaining host leaving and insist he stay, enacting laws ensuring nobody leaves without permission and with “taxable” (confiscatable) wealth.
Doctor: “I wish to not be compelled to provide un-compensated services, so I shall leave.”
Dictator: “We need your kind here. You’re not leaving.”
Doctor: “No, I shall gather my remaining wealth into compact form and walk out.”
Dictator: “You’re not going thru a gate in the fence without permission and without giving up that wealth which we hereby confiscate per your dissension.”
It’s happened before, people. Fences intended to keep people out have also been used to keep people in. Governments need subjects, especially wealthy/capable ones, and when they start leaving in significant numbers fences are used to retain them.
Yeah, it sounds stupid at first. A lot of people escaping have died trying to cross the tyrant’s fence.
Not to a country with armed citizens, I'll bet.
Ron Paul is a NUT!
That loon!!!! He actually believes in the Constitution and doesn’t trust our masters not to use the fence against us. What a paranoid!!
A nut because he doesn’t trust our masters in Washington not to use any tool (including a fence) to limit out liberty? You must also must despise those paranoid nuts who wrote the Declaration and the Bill of Rights. They too didn’t trust the government?

No, Ron Paul is a NUT because the guy’s views on a whole host of issues are NUTS!
Such as???
The fence is (1) not electrified and (2) lacks razor wire.
“Sabotage, IEDs, ambushes, oh my!”
Yeah, why would someone assume we’ll up and run if the government goes that far? Where exactly would we run to that would be any better? There’s no safe haven left, it’s stand and fight time.
LOL! You Paulers are really funny.
Please don’t insult my intelligence by acting like you have no idea or clue about the kooky, crazy, and ridiculous documented policy positions and statements Ron Pau has taken and made over the years, right up to the present election cycle. If you still have no clue and need an answer: do your own research.
Evasion, evasion and no evidence. surrounded by preaching and purple prose. You sound like Obama.
Ron Paul - 2012*
* - will be remembered as the year his cheese finally slid far enough off his cracker for gravity to take over
When I heard his say the fence “would be used to keep us in” that was the final straw in a long string of realizing that no matter what he makes sense on, Ron Paul is a total loon.
Uh, Ron. It isn’t like we all are going to flee America by driving south. Unlike Eastern Europe during the cold war idiot, we have airplanes and the ability to fly anywhere we wish.
Do you know the difference? We have guns. And we’ll use them.
And you damn right I’ll shoot it out if that is what it takes. Just like millions upon millions of others. And no military is going to shoot at us.
If anything, they’ll join us.
