Sure, recklessly fling facts around.

I hope you don't expect us ALL to pay for them.

Go get 'em, Gabz! You always were the best.

I never said anything about restrictions. If smokers want to start their own insurance plan to finance each other’s COPD, cancer, and heart disease, that would be perfectly fine with me.

Also, this argument comparing chronic illness resulting from willful lifestyle choices to normal aging processes is a red herring. People don’t CHOOSE to get Alzheimer’s or osteoarthritis. And the majority of people who live healthy lives do NOT end up in a nursing home for 20 years. Compressed morbidity.

So you know what exactly causes Alzheimer’s, if not it could be healthy living. From your posts you sound like you would like a nanny state. Most here would not.

“”hell...just dip””

Those pencil-necked inbred SOBs made it a “tobacco-free” zone too, so they will come and have a talk to you if you do that I guess.

Yes you did, in your comment about others expressing outrage about "this." This being the restrictions discussed in the article. I was just going along with your theme.

Smokers already, and have for years, paid higher premiums for their health insurance. Interestingly enough, although my husband and I are both smokers we actually qualified for more discounts on his employer insurance policy than did most of the non-smokers. Although we smoke, the insurance underwriters actually considered us lesser risks than many of his co-workers and we actually paid a lower premium than they did.

I hate to burst your little bubble there, but smokers are NOT the scourge the anti smoker gnatzies make them out to be.

Hey, do you have to change you tagline, I know you read an article before you posted on a different thread.

That is not such an unusual memory, I remember when everybody smoked, everywhere, all the time.

It never was "everybody", not even close, although the smokers tried to convince themselves otherwise.

It was acceptable behavior

No, it really wasn't. The smokers' failure to police their own activities inevitably led to the nanny-state doing the policing for them. Now they bitch and whine. My sympathy for their plight is limited.

I was born in 1940 and from my earliest memories everyone smoked every where all the time and the few who didn’t smoke (my Aunt Marie & me) never complained or even knew we had the power to complain. It was not until I took my first plane trip in about 1960 that I discovered there was such a thing as a no smoking section. On that first plane trip, I was not seated in the no smoking section and still remember the 2 chain smokers I sat between.

I certainly agree with your last part about letting them bitch and whine as they go somewhere else to smoke.

The costs of personal lifestyle choices and the burden it puts on our healthcare system are mind boggling.

So your solution is to eliminate those harmful "personal lifestyle choices" by force of law?

That, by definition, is a police state.
