Karl Rove To Sarah Palin: Get A "Thicker Skin"
Real Clear Politics ^

Posted on 08/25/2011 9:01:23 AM PDT by indianrightwinger

Karl Rove responds to controversy over his speculation if Fmr. Gov. Sarah Palin will indeed enter the GOP field. Rove said chances are she will jump in, but was not definitive in his observation.

"I'm mystified," Rove said about reaction to his speculation. "Look, she is all upset about this saying how I am trying to sabatouge her in some way. How do I speculate on her future."

"Look, if she doesn't want to be speculated about a potential presidential candidate there is an easy way to end the speculation. Simply say 'I'm not running.' Instead, every time she pops up in the public eye like she did on CNN, at the Iowa State fair a short number of days ago. she said 'I haven't made a decision.'"

"I'm just speculating that more likely than not she is going to be a candidate."

"Now I said 'I wouldn't bet a lot of money on it' because it is such a close thing and I am not privy to her thought-making process. But it is sign of enormous thin-skin that if we speculate about her, she gets upset. And I suspect if we didn't speculate about her, she would be upset and getting ways to get us to speculate about her."

I agree. Palin didn’t sound upset in her posting. She sounded matter-of-factly. She didn’t mention Rove. She mentioned the GOP establishment types that need to be rejected by voters in 2012. Apparently, Rove felt that fit him to a T, so he started to whine about it.

Tell your wife Sarah did not resign over flak. She resigned to save her family from destitution and the state from tens of millions in frivilous lawsuits. They stopped completely when she left office after completing her agenda in 2 years. She has since made enough money to save her home and pay the millions those lawsuits cost her in legal fees. Every suit against her was thrown out.

But never before has a public figure had to endure attacks on their innocent child as the left has done with Palin.

Hogwash. A few disgusting blog posts by deviants like Andrew Sullivan and Alan Colmes about Tryg and suddenly Palin is the most criticized politician ever. George W. Bush had a national network literally lie to try and destroy his presidency and military career a few months prior to his re-election. Meanwhile, Sarah Palin gets tripped up by Katie Couric, and somehow it's Couric's fault that Palin looked like foolish. I realize Couric was there to set up Palin for that "gotcha" moment, but Palin should have known it was coming. It's exactly your type of over-the-top reaction to anything not 100% positive about Palin that turns off many undecided FReepers. You people think you're helping Palin, but it only makes her appear weak to me. Are the Alan Colmes of the world disgusting creeps and lowlifes? Of course they are, you aren't going to find many here who would argue that point.

PDS is the likeliest cause.

I laugh when I read that the MSM is dying. Too many on here still buy their smears. It's a lot worse among the general population.

I look forward to the day when Rove is found in a cheap motel with a poor helpless farm animal.

It’s only a matter of time.

She’s been teasing an announcement for far too long to blame Rove for it.

VR seems to think spinning on the head of a pin is his JOB.
Insulting newcomers is part of his gig when they disagree with the Palin bots. You’re in bot country, on all threads PALIN. You posted what every thinking American believes—that the mission is nominating a candidate for president who can boot Obama. Here, however, the mission is clearly to promote a candidate and be damned that she can’t win the general, all to prove a point, that point being, you’re stupid and they’re geniuses.

Welcome up to FR! It’s a hazing thing. You’re doing fine.

And then she proceeded to take steps to ensure neither she nor her family will ever be able to be financially bullied again. EVER

Certain dipsticks who post here seem to take offense to that fact.

I know all of this. But to the common man in the street it looks to most like she cut and run. Before her brief stint as governor, SP was mayor of Wasilla and a city councilwoman from that town. Pretty thin resume.

My problem with GOP politics is this: (I am life long conservative Republican and veteran of all RR’s presidential campaigns)

Everyone wants to start off at the top and run for president. Would love to see SP take on Democrat Sen. Mark Begich in the future. Would love to see Michelle Bachmann run against Sen. Amy Klobuchar who is up this year. Would love to seen Paul Ryan run for Sen Herb Kohl’s seat who is retiring this year. Would love to see Thad McCotter take out either Sen. Stabenow or Levin in Michigan. Would love to see Herman Cain run for some other public office first before running for president. Would love to see Rick Santorum try to gain his old senate seat back like former Sen George Allen is doing in VA. I could go on and on, but you get my point. That’s the problem. Everyone wants to be chiefs not indians. Everyone wants to run for president. No wonder the Dems still control the senate and all of the good legislation passed by the House is DOA by the time Harry Reid gets a hold of it.

Well there ya go. You are readily discounting something that is the worst of the worst and that is how you have come to your erroneous conclusion. Your hatred of Sarah Palin is obvious.

Reagan and Bush were criticized for their policies and a perceived lack of intellect. That pales to the things that have been said about Palin and her child. But you're free to go about living in your fantasy world.

She mentioned the GOP establishment types that need to be rejected by voters in 2012.

But not in 2010. Sarah thought we needed GOP establishment types like John McLame in 2010!! Why, she even helped defeat a non-establishment GOP member in the AZ primary by fund-raising for McLame.

One "honorable" thing that Governor Palin could have done, (instead of running off to rake in $12 million in Reality TV and book sales and speaking fees by April 15, 2010) is to stay and fight and pass a "Loser Pays" law, like Governor Perry fought for and won in Texas, so that such blackmail by frivolous lawsuits does not happen again in Alaska.

Sarah Palin's refusal to fight and her bugging out to chase the Realty TV millions taught the blackmailer one thing:

Frivolous Lawsuit Blackmail Works in Alaska!

In Texas, after Perry fought for and won a "Loser Pays Law", such frivolous lawsuit blackmail is now impossible.

Sarah Palin took the easy ..... and extremely lucrative..... route rather than the honorable but difficult route.

Why stand and fight when you could make millions doing silly Reality TV shows with Kate Gosselin.

Same here. Rove is only a RINO and/or RNC elite supporter. Always will be.

It’s incorrect to say, “She needed to make money to defeat them.”

It was not her money she was spending defending herself as Governor. It was that of the state. It was costing time and money and deterring her from doing the business of the state. So, she defended herself and then took the bulls-eye off, an elegant strategy! If the Democrats had left her alone, she would’ve been free to do her job and safely out of their way through 2010. She might even have run for a 2nd term.

You say, “Many see SP as an opportunist who wanted to cash in on her celebrity status and go on reality TV shows and write books and become an FNC commentator.” It might seem that way to the many who believe incorrectly that she needed to raise money to defend herself. This is not true. It would’ve have been true down the road, but it was not true at that interval. But once out of the Governor’s mansion, what would those many have her do? Santorum has posited that she might have done well to have donned an apron and dedicated herself to raising her children as Mrs. Santorum has. I have no doubt that you’ll concur that she needed neither the permission nor the blessings of Santorum and the many who see her as an opportunist who wanted to cash in on her celebrity status and go on reality TV shows and write books and become an FNC commentator to do whatever the dickens she wanted to do.
