Allen West: Gays Shouldn’t Change Their ‘Choice’ Any More Than I Should Stop Eating Ice Cream
MEDIAITE ^ | 08/12/2011 | Frances Martel

Posted on 08/12/2011 8:04:40 AM PDT by SeekAndFind

Rep. Allen West has made a bold statement in the defense of LGBT rights, sort of. The Tea Party-backed Republican Congressman known for some controversial views explained local paper South Florida Sun-Sentinel that he believed that “everyone has the same basic rights,” but “people can change their sexual behavior” like any other behavior, not that he wanted them to do that.

“I can’t change my skin color,” he explained to an off-camera interviewer, “[but] people can change their sexual behavior– I’ve seen people do that.”

He explained that, growing up in Georgia, he had a “very different perspective on human behavior” that made him believe homosexuality was a choice. That said, he didn’t think it was a choice that should limit the rights people have in society.

“Everyone has the same basic rights, and no one is telling people in the gay community that they don’t have the same basic rights that any American has,” he noted. What’s more, he elaborated that while he believed it to be a choice, he did not think it an inferior one that should be changed. “No, I don’t think that!” he cried upon being asked.

“I like chocolate chip ice cream,” he said by way of analogy. “I will continue to like chocolate chip ice cream, there’s no worry about me changing to vanilla.” He’s not about to trade in his motorcycle for a scooter, either, because “I’m not into that.”

Not exactly the sort of riveting progressive statement the LGBT community is used to, nor did Rep. West explain how those beliefs translate to his position on gay marriage– or when he chose to like chocolate chip ice cream.

“that’s vile”

No, tough guy... it’s vile to help and aid the normalize homosexuality.

That’s what is utterly vile - and it’s killing our civilization and destroying our children.

And if he’s doing that then he deserves to become one with the floor.

“It is very superficial to base one’s support of a solid American patriot and conservative on one little comment. This is sound bite thinking and very stupid to say the least.”

ClearCase_guy said it better than I could...

West is not 100% pro-life.
West sees homosexuality as a lifestyle choice, and not necessarily a bad one.
West joined the Congressional Black Caucus.
West voted against defunding ObamaCare.
West voted for the Pigford black farmer reparations.
West voted repeatedly to raise the debt ceiling by trillions of dollars.

Maybe one or two of those points might be “no big deal” but taken together, they tell me that West is not for me.

Too bad. He seemed like a good guy. Faggots are to me are in the same mental illness as people that like to hump farm animals.

Homosexuality is without doubt perverse, as is the pernicious political agenda of the militant homo lobby.

Having said that, your post was objected to (and pulled) because the visual inference was over the top and libelous.

In its entirety, the abuse ping stated: "#17 is vile".

Bearing in mind the sexual action you intended readers to equate with the photo you posted,
please DO pursue your grievance with the mod/s who pulled it, with appellate recourse to JR.

They re-post it, you'll have my apology.

Very well said.

Normalizing homosexual behavior not only encourages people to try it, to feel comfortable in their “death style”, but as I feared long ago, is forcing everyone to “accept” that which is unacceptable, and demonizing anyone who tells the truth.

By equating dangerous perverted sexual acts with normal male female relations, as though they were merely different flavors of ice cream, LTC. West has shown either extremely shallow thinking and moral understanding, or is consciously sounding that way in order to avoid the fire of the leftists and “gay” activists.

Wrong, wrong, wrong.

We need true consertvatives - Constitutionalists - who see the truth, have strong moral compasses, and courage to speak the truth.

It’s the agenda, not just “private” behavior. The entire agenda. How any politician views the enforcement of the homosexual agenda on society is not on NOT irrelevant, but extremely important.

If homosexuality were simply a matter of private behavior, Rep. West would never have been asked about it in a political context. They didn’t ask him about his opinion on taking showers in the morning or the evening, or whether you should boil or grill your chicken for enchiladas.

OF COURSE it’s about an agenda that involves government at every level, and if he doesn’t understand that, he’s likely to vote foolishly, again.

I guarantee you, West is no homophile. He knows he has to be somewhat reserved in his comments, but in his heart, he also knows that queers are not normal. Like most Blacks he deeply resents being compared to sexual perverts when the deviants use civil rights history of Blacks as a method to defend sexual deviance.

Exactly so. He either was worse than disingenuous, or really doesn’t know about the agenda, which is beyond believing, considering his recent retirement from the military.

Then why did he compare those who engage in homosexual acts instead of normal sexual relations like someone who likes vanilla ice cream instead of chocolate chip? Both morally neutral flavors!

I am very, very disturbed by his comments.

I’m going with “Not all that thoughtful or informed, playing it by ear,” based on limited information. It’s entirely possible for people, even reasonably bright and well-intentioned people, to just not be paying very much attention to major societal forces.

If someone in Congress who was a military officer is so uninformed, I cry for my country.

Come on, give the guy a break. His tongue tied remark reminds me of another soldier who when asked about post war Germany political parties agreed with the statement that maybe former Nazi's where just like Democrats and Republicans in our country !! Gen Patton. Sometimes military people say stupid things

West is a soldier and not a deep political thinker.....but dammit - HE IS OUR GUY !!! You people who want to bitch and moan and parse every word a guy like West says are not ready for the battles ahead. It's always easy to criticize the man in the arena. Grow the hell up !!

What ClearCase Guy said. One “Our Guy” - I want Constitutionalists in office. Are there any out there?

This is a war. Anyone not solidly on our side should be subject to the most extreme ridicule - and any other method available to mark them as traitors.

Enemies deserve ridicule.

Do you understand that these fagots - the one’s A. West is coddling - are in a few short years going to rob you of your right to worship and your right to freedom of conscience???

Do you UNDERSTAND that!?!

Probably not... you seem to be too busy tidying up threads.

I understand exactly what you're saying, and actually agree with about 95% of it.

I also maintain that the pic that started all this was libelously over the top. I've no doubt that LtCol.West would opt for suicide rather than engage in the implied perversion.

As the photo has not been re-posted, it's safe to assume that Jim and/or the mods judged the complaint valid.

"They sure don’t last long once they get to Congress."

Or get into the public eye. First Cain now West. How soon till they start talking about abortion just being another "choice".

“I also maintain that the pic that started all this was libelously over the top. “

It’s only “libelous” if it’s unjustly unfavorable or published without just cause.

I contend it is justly unfavorable and published with just cause.

He is now a servant of the gay agenda.

+++++++++++++++++

“I’ve no doubt that LtCol.West would opt for suicide rather than engage in the implied perversion.”

His comments make it clear that, ideologically, he has knelt at the alter of political correctness. Metaphorically speaking, he’s their “boy” now.

+++++++++++++++++

“As the photo has not been re-posted, it’s safe to assume that Jim and/or the mods judged the complaint valid.”

Which proves exactly nothing with regards to it being “libelous” or not.

Pulling it is their call. It’s their board and they run things by their standards... so be it. I’ve had post pulled many times.
