Tripoli – The most prominent son of Colonel Muammar Qaddafi claimed Wednesday that the regime is forging a secret alliance with radical Islamists among the Libyan rebels.

Saif al Islam Qaddafi, a London School of Economics graduate, gave an hour-long interview to the New York Times in a Tripoli hotel in which he said the more liberal-minded members of the opposition would escape or be killed.

"We will do it together. Libya will look like Saudi Arabia, like Iran. So what?" he said, wearing traditional dress, sporting a new beard and fingering prayer beads.

His comments marked a reversal of the earlier condemnation that the Qaddafi regime had for what it called the extremist...

I didn't think of it happening that way though I knew however this war in Libya ended, it was not going to be a good ending for us or the Libyan people.

But I'm not an elected official.

I did. Qaddafi was actually cooperating in the War On Terror.

Then we decided to start bombing him for no good reason.

One of two things was going to happen.

1. The Muslim Brotherhood troops which we are backing there would win, in which case we’d have another theocratic terrorist supporting state in Africa working against us.
2. Qaddafi would win, in which case we’d have another terrorist supporting state in Africa working against us.

Hey, guess what? We’re getting a terrorist supporting state in Africa that HATES US.

Obama just did the equivalent of taunting a recovering alcoholic with a glass of gin

Taunting a recovering alcoholic *with a gun* with a glass of gin.

What’s worse is that Obama is failing to ‘keep up the skeer’ - the next time we have to send troops in someplace it’s going to be a hell of a lot harder because the opposition won’t think they’re already half beaten before the shooting starts because it’s the invincible USA.

Yup, we spend a long time trying to reverse that reputation of ours after Vietnam. Reagan and Bush had pretty much made that reputation go away. It seems to be back now.

This could end even worse than I had expected. Kadaffi and Al Qaeda teaming up.

I’m kind of wondering how you didn’t expect this.

aQ was going to get a new ally no matter what happened - from the moment France and the US started bombing them.

Well, I guess I was listening to the MSM claiming Kadaffi's about ready to leave the country and negotiating with Europe for a secure place to live out the rest of his life. I expected he'd either be killed, leave Libya or possibly win against the "rebels" then become a terrorist as he was before.

I didn't think he would trust those (Al Qaeda) who have tried to kill him so many times before.

Both Libya and Egypt will fall to Islamists - this was to be expected by those of us who have a clue as to what is going on.

- I have written countless essays concerning this on my blog as to why this will happen - you are welcome to read them. There are those of us who are patriotic American citizens - who are experts on the subject because they have lived it - and not simply studied about it in some east coast ivy league school - it is irritating to say the least that we sit here and watch the same damn mistakes being made over and over again - im sick of it - you should be sick of it and all americans should be sick of it - who in God's name thinks that Susan Rice or Hillary Clinton really know what the hell they are talking about half the time - and so they try to look smart by surrounding themselves with muslims - never having the common sense to think that these muslims might have an agenda of their own that is contrary to our own values. This is one of our nation's biggest problems. They put full faith in those opposed to us and discredit their own citizens. If you need an example just look at the translators in Afghanistan or Iraq and how many problems have come from this - how many of those translators are American citizens - dont be surprised if it is less than 2% my FRiends.

We can thank Obama for turning to two more countries into Islamist nations - but you can rest assured FRiends he is not finished.

What I did expect to happen was that either Kadaffi would win and claim victory OR he would lose and Libya would end up as another Somalia.

If the latter happened, we would have to decide to either go in and clean up the "new Somalia" or go home and let that be Obama's legacy.

I did know the end would not be a good one.

Should pay more attention to FR. Those ‘rebels’ we’re supporting are basically the Muslim Brotherhood, who if they won would find common cause with aQ. It wouldn’t be Somalia, it’d be Yemen.

If Qaddafi won, he would find common cause with aQ. Then it’d be worse than Iran, because Qaddafi isn’t incompetent. And neither are his state intelligence agencies.

I know AQ will eventually kill Kadaffi. They have tried before and they will again. They do NOT like his kind.

Thanks expatguy.

...just look at the translators in Afghanistan or Iraq and how many problems have come from this....

Mooselimbs having their own agenda? Nooooooo.... they love us - look we even have some working with us! We would have better, valuable, cooperation if we only offered them even more money! ;o)

But seriously, I always try to learn some of the local language (and the slang for names they call you), but usually don't tell any translators, that. Just for starters (it gets much worse as you know, and I won't go into that), it's amazing how some of them will openly give out information when they are supposed to be doing the opposite... or speak with disdain for those they are working for.
