eight-inch thick armour-plating

I have seen vids of some 50 caliber rounds piercing 8" of mild steel. 8" of armor is not impregnable. And in the case of bombs, the danger escalates. I understand why he is a bit paranoid. The more bad people who hate you the higher the risk. He has made a lot of powerful enemies over the past year. Especially in the Middle East.

8 inches of armor is something I would expect on a battleship except in their thickest belts.

I don’t think a .50 cal would even come close to penetrating that. Now maybe an RPG.

Its not solid plate armor ... Its an exotic sandwiched layer of different materials that will in fact stop a tandem shape charge.
Very well made vehicle that is designed to keep moving out of the kill zone if attacked an hit.

I don’t care for Erkel Mugabe yet hate those that target presidents more....next one I may actually care about....:o)

There's no 8" thick armour plating. The doors are 8" thick overall, including the 5" armour. The photo captions belie the (poorly written) article.
