Charles Krauthammer: C’mon, Herman Cain’s candidacy is for entertainment purposes only
Hotair ^ | 05/20/2011 | Allahpundit

Via the Right Scoop, I’m not nearly as sure as Kraut is that this is true. If Palin surprises everyone by staying out, Iowa will be wide open for a “true conservative” to emerge. And if Cain finishes well there, he’ll be well positioned to surprise people in his backyard of South Carolina. Doesn’t mean he’ll be the nominee, but it’s very easy to imagine him being a factor in the nomination given his grassroots support. If Palin does jump in, I don’t know how the base goes about trying to decide between them. Palin has held public office and Cain hasn’t, but Cain doesn’t have the sort of image problem out of the box that she has to overcome. How does the vote split between the two of them and Bachmann in Iowa? Somewhere Romney and Pawlenty consultants are reading that question and thinking: “Hopefully very evenly.”

I guess Kraut figures that since he’ll soon be alienating the base by criticizing Palin after she announces, he might as well go the whole nine yards and tweak Cain too. Speaking of which, the Herminator is now officially in. His formal announcement will come tomorrow.

I like listening to Krauthammer, especially on foreign affairs. But his evaluation of candidates is hit and miss. To his credit, he declared Newt finished after the ‘anti-Paul Ryan’ blunder. But other times he considers people like Mitch Daniels to be the top candidate. Mitch seems too cowardly to me. I need to ask my wife if I can run. Lets call a truce on social issues (ie, lets let the left do anything they want), we need to make people like us, ect... Rush was slamming Mitch for this cowardly attitude today.

RE: Please can somone give me pros and cons about Cain?

The only and main con I can think of is this — He has never held elected government office and lost in his only bid for the U.S. Senate in Georgia, pursuing the seat that came open with the retirement of Democrat Zell Miller.

Other than that, almost ALL of his stance on the issues that affect America are SPOT ON.

Yeah, I’m joking - sort of. I’m watching it right now - it’s on all the time. It pisses me off because I keep looking for a better source, but there isn’t one. Most of the prime-time line up is a joke. BOR being the biggest joke of them all. Rush is still the king.

I really like Allen West. But he’s in Congress and that is probably as good a place as any to learn how corrupt Congress is, what should be done about it, and gather up allies and supporters for furthering his political career.

Frankly, I think Michelle Bachman should do the same. Both could return to their states and run for governor, then go for the Presidency.

Herman Cain’s candidacy is for entertainment purposes only

Stranger things have happened.

Four years a jug-eared, amateurish, light-weight clown who hardly anyone had heard of announced he was running for the Presidency. He had been elected to the Senate on the basis of his black skin and his record there was laughable.

Very few people took him seriously as a candidate. In part because he lacked gravitas, in part because he had no national name recognition, but mostly because the whole world knew that Hillary was going to be president. She just had to walk through the formalities of being nominated and elected to make it legal.

Today that clown is sitting in the White House dismembering the US constitution, Article by Article.

Yes, it is. Many of us will be quite entertained watching the pain and horror on the faces of Krauthammer and his ilk as Herman takes the oath of office.

As of now, Cain is the only candidate, or prospective candidate, that can get my vote without question.
Thereafter, Bachman is considerable... Thereafter, none.

I think Col. West has it figured out already.

I trust him more than anyone else in government.

Like you, I watch FOX because it is the best thing going right now. Rush IS the man though. He comes on my computer at 6 AM Maui Time and I have my morning coffee listening the Rush.

I’ve listened to Rush since the late 80’s. There were times when I got tired of his show and tuned out for a few months here and there only to find that I always end up back with Rush. I’ve come to learn that he’s the best of all time and I’ll never tune out again. He will surpass Paul Harvey. Good luck to you over there in Maui as we begin the “last day”! ;)

Cain is a talk show host who has had a very successful business career as a CEO and served on the Federal Reserve Board. He ran for the Republican nomination for Senator in GA in 2004 but was unsuccessful. He has never held an elective office and that is his major shortcoming. He holds views very similar to Sarah Palin, a plus. He did support TARP, another shortcoming. So did Palin, but she did so as McCain’s running mate which left her little room to disagree.

President would be Cain’s first elected office and it’s just not done that way. Didn’t work for Ross Perot with his billions and it won’t work for Cain.

He is bringing the conservative message to a new audience and may stick it out for a while. As of now, he’s not showing a half a percent on Gallop, so he’s not doing any damage. He will not want to take votes from an electable conservative to tilt the race to Romney and will probably withdraw if he starts splitting the vote.

I like Cain, but to be blunt, he would not win the general election, and he won't win the primary. Thats not an opinion, thats a fact.

I really really really wish, he would be a governor or senator first (preferably governor), then he would be taken seriously as a candidate.

As of right now, he is the Gary Baeur/Steve Forbes/Alan Keyes/Pat Robertson/Pat Buchanan mold of candidates in the past.

He can have an effect, he can be a part of the debate, and he can alter the dynamic, but he will not win.

When you look at Charles’s meal ticket, the inescapable conclusion is, Krauthammmer is for entertainment purposes only.

During the presidential campaign of 1980, Krauthammer served as a speech writer to Vice President Walter Mondale

Someone who is not a career politician sounds great to me. After Obama ‘qualifications’ is a joke. No more RINOs, no more elite political class candidates for me.
