German paper says Iranians paid cash to build mid-range missile launch pads on Paraguana Peninsula; Iranian engineers visited site in Feb.

BERLIN – The Iranian government is moving forward with the construction of rocket launch bases in Venezuela, the German daily Die Welt wrote in its Friday edition.

Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez is Teheran’s most important South American ally.

Iran is building intermediate- range missile launch pads on the Paraguaná Peninsula, and engineers from a construction firm – Khatam al-Anbia – owned by the Revolutionary Guards visited Paraguaná in February. Amir al-Hadschisadeh, the head of the Guard’s Air Force, participated in the visit, according to the report. Die Welt cited information from “Western security insiders.”

The rocket bases are to include measures to prevent air attacks on Venezuela as well as commando and control stations.

The Iranian military involvement in the project extends to bunker, barracks and watch tower construction. Twenty-meter deep rocket silos are planned. The cost of the Venezuelan military project is being paid for with Iranian oil revenue.

According to Die Welt, the clandestine agreement between Venezuela and Iran would mean the Chavez government would fire rocket at Iran’s enemies should the Islamic Republic face military strikes

Easy there, Sham. I think drift's got it figured out:

I found a story from Jerusalem Post which didn’t have good news. Old article but said Iran got some missiles from North Korea which would have the range to hit the US. Plus their ability to put small payloads in orbit means they could put a very small warhead (300 Kg) on Washington.

I checked Google earth. Its 1800 km from Venz to the southern tip of the US. The above article says those NK weapons have ranges of 2500 -3500KM.

Yeah 3500 km goes all the way up to the very southern tip of Maine. over to the eastern great lakes and down to eastern texas.

Seems like a GOP contender could make this an issue in the primaries. Obomba probably does want to sit on this info until he benefits the most from it, and do agree with you that Barry does have the mindset of a killer. I happen to think that he is a sociopath as well as a Marxist, but either way, he won’t lose sleep over slaughtering people to gain a few votes here or there.

"He doesn’t currently have any missiles which can reach the US from Chavez land."

It is less than 2,000 kilometers from the Paraguana Peninsula to Miami. That is within the range of an Iranian Shahab-4, Shahab-5, or Shahab-6 missile.

It’s 1800 km from the two closest points. Depending on the model some sources say their missiles will have adequate range. Some sources say they don’t.

Yes, thats why I put the word in there.

Although some sources indicate he does have missiles with adequate range. The two closest points are about 1800 km using google earths ruler.

I appreciate the comment.

For someone to post such an offensive comment without cause means they are not capable of rational thought. I have no use for such people.

Well, he can target State numbers 51, 52, 53, 54, 55, 56, 57...Knock yerself out...When they find them I hope someone lets us know...I’m curious to know where they are...

1-50, they need to back off...Not sure if Hawaii or Alaska need to worry too much, but then again they have to deal with the NK threat...

“He doesn’t currently have any missiles which can reach the US from Chavez land.”

It says here that Iran has the BM25 Musudan with an estimated range of 3000-4000 kilometers.
