He ran for something in Georgia, dog-catcher or Congress, and didn’t even win the nomination. Do you know who did? I don’t but why wouldn’t you support that person?

I wish people would educate themselves regarding Georgia politics before flinging out this prejudicial rejoinder.

Crossover voting is a ploy in which voters who normally participate in the primary of one party vote instead in the primary of another party. The behavior typically happens when the nominee of the one party is a foregone conclusion or when a candidate in one party's primary has an appeal to the voters in another party.

Zell Miller declined to run for a full term in 2004 after temporarily filling the open Senate seat vacated when our favorite Conservative Republican Paul Coverdell passed away. Old Conservative Democrat "Warhorse" Zell Miller did an honorable job filling Senator Coverdell's term!

As a surprise to everyone, especially Democrats, Congresswoman Denise Majette became the Democrat candidate for the Senate when her only claim to fame was in beating the Communist Democrat Cynthia McKinney only two years earlier (thus alienating a host of Democrats).

The Republican Primary had two staunch Conservatives, Mac Collins and Herman Cain, running against the milquetoast but "entitled" professional RINO politician, Johnny Isakson.

A large number of Democrats, knowing their candidate had no chance of winning In the General Election and also was despised by many for destroying their favorite "Communist in Congress", decided to crossover to vote in our Republican Primary for the least effective Republican (completely legal with Georgia's non-party affiliated voter registration).

Of course, the Conservative vote was diluted in the primary, split between the two Conservatives, Cain and Collins, causing our current RINO Junior Senator Johnny Isakson to win the seat. I am proud to say I voted for Herman Cain! I will never accuse Mac Collins of being a ringer, yet with the knowledge that Mac Collins was a former Democrat that switched parties, someone else might.

The other reason Herman Cain did not win his Senatorial bid was that Georgia was then in a transition from Post Reconstruction Democrat Good-Ole'-Boy politics to the modern Georgia Republican majority. The nascent Republican Party at the time felt beholden to Isakson for being a longtime Republican who helped to bring about the change in a state that had been Yellow Dog Democrat since 1870. The Republican Party put its total support to Isakson as the officially anointed candidate. At the time it simply was not Herman Cain's "turn."

Claiming Herman Cain could not win a Senate Primary often sounds suspiciously like an intentional omission of key facts. He had my vote then and I would not hesitate to do it again!

Now as an ugly afterthought to this circumstance, I have realized the same scenario is shaping up nationally for the 2012 Election.

As already stated, Georgia does not have political party registration. It is a forgone conclusion just as in the Senatorial Election in 2004, that Georgia will go to the Republican in the General Election for President. Any individual Democrat Primary vote will count for nothing, freeing all Democrats to crossover to vote for the favorite RINO Republican Presidential Candidate. If any Democrat does not desire to vote for his highness, The Obama, and wishes to sabotage the Republican Election they can ask for a Republican ballot.

I believe there are 13 states that would allow Democrats to vote in a Republican Primary either because they have no party registration or because they allow voting day registration. The 13 States are: Georgia, Michigan, Virginia, Connecticut, Idaho, Iowa, Maine, Minnesota, Montana, New Hampshire, Washington, Wisconsin and Wyoming. Not all of these states would fall firmly in the Republican Electoral Vote count, but I suspect a couple of them may. We should all pray for rain and snow to keep the lazy Dims at home for the Primary Elections.

Mississippi doesn’t have party registration, either.
