I think it's important to understand the enemy as much as possible. It seems that Osama was like some of the top Nazis, who did not personally like to commit mass murder but motivated others to do so. I think Osama was the spiritual head/ moneybags of terrorists organizations. The one others went to for funding and approval.
The good thing about Osama being gone is there isn't anyone like him to step into his shoes. Most of the nut cases over there are just that: nuts. And they're competitive, evil, selfish and untrustworthy... in short, the guys who are left won't trust each other enough to work together. That's good. The bad is now the meanest goon will run the shop in the short run... in the long run the he unintended consequence might be more power for Iran... we'll have to wait and see.
