BRUSSELS - NATO acknowledged Friday that its airstrikes had hit rebels using tanks to fight government forces in eastern Libya, saying no one told them the rebels used tanks.
British Rear Adm. Russell Harding, the deputy commander of the NATO operation, said in the past, only forces loyal to Libyan strongman Moammar Gadhafi had used heavy armored vehicles.
Harding says the rebels and government troops are engaged in a series of advances and retreats between the eastern coastal towns of Brega and Ajdabiya, making it difficult for pilots to distinguish between them.
NATO jets attacked a rebel convoy between these two towns Thursday, killing at least five fighters and destroying or damaging a number of armored vehicles.

Read today where the rebels are painting the top of their vehicles bright pink to identify they are rebels. I am assuming Gadaffi has heard this also and is ordering his vehicles to be painted bright pink too! These rebels are a clown act!

The Benghazi rebels were reported to have taken tanks from captured army bases weeks ago.

We establisheda no-fly zone. I never knew tanks could fly.

Remember that the US is still providing the vast proportion of the intelligence assets for the conflict. In addition the vast majority of air refuelling support.
NATO has also stated in briefing that even rebel tanks will be targeted if they are seen to be targeting civilians. Today they forced down a rebel MiG-23 Flogger that had violated the No Fly Zone.

Obama and the other administration enablers of militant Islam assure us that the rebels are just freedom loving students, distraught housewives and frustrated shop owners, fighting a brutal regime armed with nothing more than #2 pencils, cooking pots and straw brooms.
Well, that’s true, now what?! If there’s a military that I trust it’s ours, ours and UK intelligence that is, they’ve always had a strong record.
