If there was ever any doubt at all that our .gov is out of control and money hungry...
Uh, exsqueeze me, but the taxes paid are ALREADY proportional to the number of times the pilot has used the government’s air. Now they propose to penalize him if he DOESN’T use it??!!
This reminds me of the BS CA pulled on Cars. Used to be if you didn’t want to register your car for a year or so and didn’t plan to drive it, you simply notified the DMV and that was that. Now if you don’t drive your car and don’t want to pay the registration fee, you have to pay a fee for not driving it. Talk about your runaway government and their money grubbing BS.
If a tax revolt was going to happen, maybe this would be the first shot fired??? Of all the stupid moronic ideas a Democrat appointee (I’m guessing here) could come up with this has the be the class winner. They could do the same thing for people who drive cars. Tax them if the don’t drive a certain number of miles per year.
The entire fing government is completely utterly insane and totally out of control. Seems to me that we are way over due for Revolution V2.0..
This also will cut down the number of people who will want to be a pilots.
Imbecile!
But then what could you expect from a union head at the ALPA union, a big contributor to the democrat party.
This is also probably unconstitutional as per the forced purchase of insurance for health care - you are forcing someone to pay for NOT doing something.
If this passes, what’s to stop them for charging people who don’t drive their cars enough? And aren’t the pilots who don’t fly reducing carbon emissions?
In the end game, Obama will be charging you a greenhouse tax if you fly/drive too much, and a non-usage tax if you don’t fly/drive enough.
Is there any competent person in the Obama regime? Any??
F this!!!!!!!!
I caught the date.
Wouldn’t that be something if we start getting hit for fees on a 20-year inactive certificate, or have to pay to terminate it.
This is the end-game. Tax and tax and tax until people stop an activity... then tax them for not doing the activity.
April fool idiots:-)
It seem as though not many are paying attention to the publish date of the article.
I like this idea, it really is creative and reflects our need to consume. Other ideas are:
1. A surcharge on a sliding scale for hybrid and economy car owners, SUV drivers don’t have to pay, mid-size owners pay $100, economy car owners pay $300 and hybrid owners pay $1000 for not buying enough gas
2. Home owners should also have to pay more if they own a smaller house, so any one with a house over 4,000 sq-ft does not have to pay, any one with less has to pay $1 per sq-ft
3. People that don’t buy less then 33 cases of beer or 20 fifths of alcohol should be changed for under consumption at the rate of $5 per bottle of beer under consumed or $25 per bottle of spirits under consumed.
4. People that consume less and 10 pounds of transfats per year should be charged an under consumption tax of $100 per pound of transfat
5. People that consume less than 50 pounds of sugar per year should be charged an under consumption tax of $25 per pound of sugar
This is a wonderful concept that if pursued to the fullest should get the economy humming along in no time!

Hmm how about we change the tax system now and charge a higher percentage tax the less one makes..obviously these people are using more services than they are producing and ar not helping the economy grow. Give them an incentive to earn more by charging them less percentage tax the more they make..Piece of Cake.
Let’s surcharge licensed drivers who don’t log at least 15,000 miles a year.
As an aircraft owner, this is utterly insane.
