I {hopefully and respectively } disagree that this was intentional in nature and resulted in the Dems revealng their postion/plan.

Actually that raises Waukesha’s voter turnout considerably. Election night they reported WAukesha as having a 42% turnout — now it’s 47%!

>> this Clerk is incompetent and should resign.

I disagree. Sounds like somebody else screwed up, but she caught the error. Thank goodness she did!

Didn’t say it was intentional. These folks get to handle elections. It’s a most important function and she fouled it up. That is inexcusable. If she was an at will employee she should be fired. Instead shell have to be votes out of office. It’ll come out that she was a stubborn, incompetent Clerk who refused to change.

No one else screwed up. This was the Clerk. She admitted it.

So who was it that didn’t comply with the rules about not modifying the spreadsheet template?

Sorry, I don’t intend to be facetious or anything, I’m just coming up to speed on this piece of news.

Doubt they have VFW halls in Madison

As of June 9th 1991 they did. I had my wedding reception in one.

With the extra 14K votes added in, that brings Waukesha on par with the other counties, which one would expect.

Except for Madistan's Dane County, where turnout was, ah, remarkably high.

If this outcome for Mr. Prosser holds, it is a devastating defeat, for not only public service unions, but POTUS Obama. Fact is: If the unions, the Democrat party and POTUS Obama, armed with millions of Democrat/Union dollars could not win this kind of election in a “blue” state like Wisconsin, they are in deep trouble across the board in 2012. If the Dems had any brains (they don’t) they would force Obama to resign or impeach him immediately. Failure to do that will not only cause Obama to be defeated, but will also destroy most of the current Democrat Party!!!

The county Clerk refused to adopt a new, more direct statewide method. She wanted to keep her older Access system and was audited by the state as a result. The state declared it acceptable, but it obviously led to the error. (I’m paraphrasing a news story).

The news article you read has it wrong. There was NO error in the actual count, only the reporting method the clerk used to report the count to the Associated Press. They had the numbers wrong and reported them wrong, showing the Democrat winning.

I never said whether the article had it wrong or not. I read about five articles on this and watched her press conference.

What she did was to forget to include the numbers from the city of Brookfield in the totals she sent to the Associated Press the night of the election. That effectively made the vote totals for Waukesha County wrong. She never included a total of about 14,000 votes from the city of Brookfield(approx. 11,000 for Prosser and approx. 3,500 for Kloppenberg).

Her 'system' was an older way to tabulate the votes. Brookfield sent their votes one way and it didn't jive with the Access file she created. Apparently Brookfield had too many columns, so they redid their numbers at Brookfield and resubmitted them, but Nickolaus forgot to include them in her report to the A.P. on election night.
