Gallup’s #s were much worse than the official government numbers last month. Expect more of the same.

[This explains the ballyhoo regarding the lower unemployment applications this morning.]

No one is quitting for dear life. Businesses aren’t hiring either. Of course applications are down.

I hope the Coffee Party movement doesn’t hear about this; they’ll kill us with it.

Instead of reporting "unemployment" as being those who are actively looking, and then having secondary figures for those who have given up, we need to have one statistic that conservatives use that encapsulates the whole thing.

"Underemployment" doesn't capture what the true employment situation is. We need to use a figure that tells us the percentage of people who were employed in 2008 who are no longer employed. Call it the OUI--the Obama Unemployment Index.

Reagan had the Misery Index, combining inflation and interest rates. This is our Misery Index.

The REAL Unemployment Rate Is 22% according to Shadow Stats but the mainstream media is too busy promulgating propaganda to feed the masses to look into the truth of why it is reported the way it is now.

I would think that the number of foreclosures, short sales, inflation index, and even the collection of taxes would show that we are in a serious financial mess. If people aren’t working, then the tax collection would have to be less and also funding for soc security would be less, or am I just having a bad dream ? Gas and food prices are up, as well as all commodities. The world is in turmoil, Wisconsin can’t get a bill passed....California still has Moonbeam....Why is the Stock Market Up ?

Rush said there are less jobs available. It is skewing the government approved rate downward.

Companies are squeezing every drop of productivity from those who remain employed. I don't think there’re any more saving to be had from RIFs without cutting muscle.

You’re absolutely right. When I (and a large segment of my cohorts) retired, there were no replacements.

The boys and girls remaining are being worked like rented mules and getting no raises.

Nobody quits because there’s nowhere to go.

Look at what you buy and you will see where Clinton, Bush, and Obama exported the jobs.

What??? Then why did CNBC break out the rhetorical champagne at 7:30 AM today when the unemployment numbers were announced? Does the media lie ALL the time? Nevermind....everyone knows the answer to that one.
