Ted Nugent: I love Palin but I couldn’t vote for her right now
Hot Air ^ | 1/6/11 | Allahpundit

Posted on 01/06/2011 7:16:39 PM PST by pissant

Dude, I think we just found our keynote speaker for RINOcon.

“(Palin’s) coming from the street, she’s coming from the we-the-people rank-and-file, she makes sense when she talks, she says all the right things, she’s sincere, she’s knowledgeable , she’s articulate, she’s damn good-looking, plus she kills moose, how can you go wrong?” Nugent gushed.

However, when Cooper pressed Nugent on whether Palin would make a good president, Nugent balked.

“It’s too early to tell. Right know, if we had a vote, I couldn’t vote for Sarah Palin. And I love her. I love her madly, and I respect her.”

I never thought I’d say this but now I’m honestly curious to know who the Nuge is backing in 2012. He’s campaigned with her, he’s written fawning tributes to her — I figured he was a true blue Palinista come the primaries. What now? Is Uncle Ted a Pence supporter? Mitch Daniels? Everything I thought I knew about the world has been shattered.

Now I really can’t vote for her when I listen to you folks.

So much for "research and intelligence."

Tell me, how would you expect to be treated if your "opinion" was soundly refuted, yet you refused to change your position?

So if I don’t agree with you, I’m Chicagoland? I didn’t realize the tea party was this extreme - I think you guys go as far right as the black caucus goes far left. If this is who Palin supporters are, I definitely don’t want to be associated with it — really. Honestly, I’ve been to a few tea party meetings, but no one I met was this far right of center that I met there. I thought I was as far right of center as one could go...I need to inform my friends and family that you can go a hell of a lot farther right then me. I can’t believe this

I am NOT attacking Sarah if you are referring to me. I am simply saying what I’ve read, what I’ve seen, what I’ve heard from her...I’m not impressed. That doesn’t mean I don’t think she’s an asset to the republican party. She has a place in the party, in my opinion, but I don’t think it’s as president.

You know what else I see now - the republicans are going to be fatallly split if this keeps up!

Not if people like you will quit extolling nebulous fears, and calling them "reasons."

Do not confuse Palin cultists with “far right”. Their hero is nowhere near the far right, and has a liberal streak a mile wide.

I have seen your numerous other posts on Sara Palin - you have a very serious mental fixation on her, bordering on stalking. If I were you, I would get some help stat.

well then lewis, let’s just discuss another possible nominee. Everyone was talking about Palin when I came in here tonight. I’m willing to discuss anyone else that I’m familiar with. If you were talking about Huck, I would have talked about him too. I think he’s a nice guy, but I’m not with him either. Do you REALLY think we should have 100% vote for a particular person in the party? Really?

Fears? Fears? Are you kidding me? This is what I mean about constipated brain cells, which some here call “cultists”. What happened to an honest debate? Why does everyone want to attack anyone who simply wants to debate. There’s a problem on this site I think

You have taken some posts from July. They're out of context, and look like they maybe in jest. The posts have nothing to do with Ted Nugent but you seem to be using them in a way to discount Ted's opinion because pissant posted this thread. I disagree with Ted but he is a strong conservative and his voice should be heard in FR, despite how you want to make it a personal thread about pissant...yeah I call that a vendetta.

I've read hundreds, maybe thousands, of your posts. I respect your opinion and I think you can be a very funny sometimes. I agree that Sarah will make a great President. I think pulling an old post from another thread is a lousy debating technique and beneath your abilities.

You are a prolific poster. I bet you could find in your history some flippent comment that could be misconstrued 6 months after the fact that you would not like reposted multiple times.

You should let is go.

Are you saying you’re not intelligent?

Where the hell did you get such an absurd question?

No. I'm saying your opinion is formed with all the accumen and calculation of a giggling schoolgirl. It's just wearing a uniform designed to make it look studious.

You keep saying you don't see her intelligence, but you never say what "intelligence" is supposed to look like.

i just want to say goodnight and some of you have taken all the fun out of a political debate. I’ve been coming here for 10 years under another name and I’ve never come up against anything this hardcore. I want to say you have definitely opened my eyes to who her supporters are. I thought I was “up” on my game in politics, but I see I have much to learn when it comes to the tea party and palin supporters. Based on your responses to me tonight, I could never vote for her.
I’m really turned off. I want the republicans to win desperately but if this is what Palin is about, I am not going there. You may find in the future that you’ll do more for her by presenting yourself in another way. You scare the sh.. out of me.

I didn’t know you were going to ask what “see” is. I think going this far to parse my sentences is a bit far. I enjoy a good political debate, but not personal attacks and I don’t think I want to go any lower than I have tonight. That’s really not my style. Goodnight.

Ya’ll can beat me up here we need someone with a lot more int’l experience than Sarah Palin.

Just wondering...

Who was the last President "with a lot of international experience"?

Was it Sen. Barack Obama, Illinois State Senator?

Was it George W. Bush, governor of Texas?

Was it Bill Clinton, governor of Arkansas?

Probably, it was George H.W. Bush, past Vice-President, CIA Director and oil businessman.

Before that, was it Ronald Reagan, governor of California?

Was it Jimmy Carter, governor of Georgia?

Was it Gerald Ford?

How about Richard Nixon, another past VP?

Fact is, we could go on-and-on. Because we tend to favor governors for the Presidency, we also tend to choose people without a lot of international experience.

Even those Senators who have served on the Foreign Relations committee can't be said to have "a lot of international experience"...beyond junketing. Would you call John Kerry and Joe Biden foreign affairs mavens?

Accordingly, a lack of international experience isn't a disqualifier for the position of President of the USA. Almost none of our Presidents can be said to have had "a lot of international experience".

Ironically, though, as governor of Texas, George W. Bush was one of our most experienced Presidents in international affairs. He had direct relations with the government of Mexico.

And, similarly, Sarah Palin also has successful experience in negotiating with a foreign power -- Canada. She's got a helluva lot more international experience right now than Barack Obama had when he became President. Or Bill Clinton -- whose only international experience was being booted out of Oxford and asked to leave the UK.

"International experience" seems like it should be important. But it's not. And it's a straw man argument when it comes to picking a President.

That's so pussified. That's like saying "I could never believe in God because some who believe in God do objectionable deeds in His name."

I’m really turned off. I want the republicans to win desperately but if this is what Palin is about, I am not going there. You may find in the future that you’ll do more for her by presenting yourself in another way. You scare the sh.. out of me.?

No conservative has the sh** scared out of him on a political board. You're a wuss and a liberal.

There are plenty of folks at lefty website talking about Palin exactly as you do. Try your luck there.

Why does everyone want to attack anyone who simply wants to debate.

Because when you "debate" in this context, without ever acknowledging the scores against your argument, it pretty much proves you're not actually debating.... you're campaigning.
