Reporting from Washington The House passed a landmark youth immigration bill known as the Dream Act on Wednesday night largely along party lines, but the measure faces a tough test in the Senate as Democrats struggle to pass priority legislation in the waning days of this Congress.
Eight Republicans joined in approving the bill, 216 to 198.

8 Republicans??? Name names!
Dammit.
There's a list to post in perpetuity.
u
They are all retiring, except for two the Florida Cuban-Americans. And you will never beat them in a primary over this vote.
Don’t give up yet! Sen Snow has indicated she will not vote for this bill. Harry has cancled the vote in the senate. He does not have the votes he needs to pass it.
Republicans:
Ehlers, Y
Cao, Y
Djou, Y.
Ros-Lehtinen, Y
Diaz-Balart, L., Y;
Diaz-Balart, M., Y;
Castle, Y.
Snyder, Y.
See #8 hold your horses was researching lol..
Congress passed it in stealth mode tonight.

Castle, Cao, Inglis, Dijou and others.
Future GOP House GOP meetings need to have the pitchfork and torch guards outside to show some reps the door.
Put them in jail.
Condoning and supporting lawbreakers ILLEGAL aliens) is unacceptable behavior.
Castle, Djou, Cao, Ehlers, and Snyder (a Democrat) will not be in the 112th Congress. The three Cuban-American Reps from FL voted along tribal lines.
The deportees can be given some sour lemons to suck.
All of them, Castle, Cao, Inglis, and Dijou won’t be in the 112th Congress. They will suffer no poltical consequences as a result.

“The three Cuban-American Reps from FL voted along tribal lines.”
Personally, I’d give them a pass. They are generally reliable except on this issue. They would have hell to pay if they opposed the Dream Act.
What is very interesting is that 7 of 12 PA Dems voted AGAINST the Dream Act. 4 losers plus 3 who survived. The PA delegation voted 5 YES - 14 NO on the Dream Act.
Well, be a little quicker next time. Having to wait to post number 8 to get the answer, geez!
Sounds like that hopey/changey stuff again. This country has got to have the dumbest voters to ever come down the pike.
For all we know, they may have been told that the votes were firm against the bill in the Senate. So they could vote for political expediency.
In any event, I predict the Republicans will bring up the bill in a very narrow form next year (no more than 300,000 beneficiaries and NO sponsorships) and combine it with strong enforcement, employer verification measures and perhaps allowing states to assist with enforcing immigration law (ie make SB1070 clearly legal).
This would be difficult for Obama to veto.
As someone who works for a grassroots organization that deals with the immigration and lobbies on the Hill, you couldn't be more wrong. There will be no amnesty in the 112th Congress. Lamar Smith and Steve King will see to that. The incoming Rep class is strong on immigration as are the six Rep senators.
Where did you come up with the figure of 300,000? And do you understand what chain migration is? Or what this will cost us?
thanks but see above..
laughs the posts were fast and I was in the roll call deciphering and finding and typing the 8 names.. with html codes then double checking on a couple of them as similar. Thus, 8 was fast! before any of the other answers that fell below. (stalks off..ingrate!) ;)
You can re-write the Dream Act so that the applicants will NEVER be able to sponsor another person. The latest version moved in this direction but not nearly strongly enough.
So if Smith and King want to strengthen immigration enforcement, how exactly are they going to accomplish that without Obama signing their legislation? They need to offer something.
Or we can wait until 2013 when we MIGHT have a new president. And by that time there will be millions more illegals to deal with.
It's a show of "thanks" for your vote.
It's been going on since 2001 when first introduced.
"The law says that if you're born here, you are a U.S. citizen. But if you come here illegally, you are not a citizen
ALL 9 so-called “republikans” lost in either the primary or general election. Bastards had nothing to lose.
DREAM Act passes House, 216-198
voted no with the GOP versus just eight Republicans who crossed the aisle to vote yes. The defectors:
Joe Cao (defeated in general election)
Mike Castle (defeated in primary)
Lincoln Diaz-Balart (retiring)
Mario Diaz-Balart
Charles Djou (defeated in general election)
Vern Ehlers (retiring)
Bob Inglis (defeated in primary)
Ileana Ros-Lehtinen
If youre looking to punish any of them with a primary, the pickings are slim.
And the eleven Republican representatives who did not even bother to vote.
# Brian Bilbray, California
# Roy Blunt, Missouri
# Steve Buyer, Indiana
# Mary Fallin, Oklahoma
# Phil Gingrey, Georgia
# Kay Granger, Texas
# Parker Griffith, Alabama
# Kenny Marchant, Texas
# Cathy McMorris Rodgers, Washington State
# George Radanovich, California
# Marlin Stutzman, Indiana
Disgusted! Our congressman “RINO” did not vote. Poor loser lost his seat in the primary and has not represented us, his constituents since.
In most parliamentary countries the members who lost leave immediately. For obvious reasons: they've been fired.
You quit voluntarily, you leave when it's agreed on. You get fired, you leave that day.
And if pigs had wings they could fly. The courts would never permit it. Once these people become green card holders and citizens, you can't make them a separate less than equal citizen or green card holder, both of whom can sponsor relatives, spouses, children, etc. to become legal immigrants to this country.
So if Smith and King want to strengthen immigration enforcement, how exactly are they going to accomplish that without Obama signing their legislation? They need to offer something.
Just enforcing the existing laws and legislation on the books would be sufficient. In large part, that was what AZ 1070 was all about, i.e., enforcing our existing laws. We still have unsecured borders despite the Secure Fence Act. The US-VISIT act has never been fully implemented. Take a look at the "Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986"
Or we can wait until 2013 when we MIGHT have a new president. And by that time there will be millions more illegals to deal with.
The status quo is not an option. The number of illegals will continue to increase and when you offer amnesties like the Dream Act, you just incentivize more illegals to come here. And we need to reduce the number of LEGAL immigrants who enter this nation annually, i.e., 1.2 million. 53% of immigrant headed households use at least one major welfare program. And we are bringing in 125,000 legal foreign workers a month, which includes those entering on temporary work visas and green cards as LPRs.
