After talking with President Obama for two hours, Republicans said Tuesday that they were “pleased” and remained committed to finding “common ground.”

“The president did make the important point that he hasn’t spent much time with us – reaching out and talking to us, and committed to do so,” incoming House Speaker John Boehner, who said the meeting was “very nice,” told reporters.

“I think spending more time will help us ... find common ground,” Boehner said.

See? Without a total change in leadership within the GOP/RNC monolith, it will be SOSDD.

Call their DC offices and ask if they’re still looking for their cajones, spine and guts.

ABSOLUTELY!!!! Single payer...here we come—all for a toothy smile from the One.

CALL THEIR DC OFFICES!! on pre-conditions and 26 year old men on mommies health insurance, Cantor said.

Yep. I think it would be incredibly stupid, to go in there, before you’ve even taken control, with a Lame Duck Congress working on oh, a budget, and keeping the Bush tax cuts in place, and come out reaming the guy you want to see embrace your goals for the LDC.

After the next Congress is seated, then he can get less bipartisan.

But I agree, he’d better be plotting and planning. And he should keep in mind that were watching them like a hawk.

Any fat lips?

Not yet, but with all the idiotic knee-jerk reactions on this thread there are sure to be plenty.

The only words he spoke to them in the previous 2 years was “I won” and then he shoved stuff Americans did not want down their throats.

I don’t fault him on this. Let’s wait and see what he DOES.

As sickening as it sounds, there is typically a short "honeymoon" period. This is just preliminary nice talk. Let's first see how the cards play out. If the GOPers start giving up positions, though, a LOT of people are going to PO'd in a BIG way!!

No more of that “I won; I’m gonna trump you on that” crap. There’ll be plenty of time for rancor; recommend we hold our fire for now.

“Common ground”, for instance?

The man has never had a positive word to say about America while on foreign soil, at least anything that does not begin with “...but now that I am president...”

Rush reported Cantor told Matt Laur this morning, I believe he said, that:

1. the 26 year olds on mommy’s insurance

2. pre-conditions will stay

So long as the GOP is pro-Constitution and pro-America, I doubt that they will find common ground with Obama. Still, if they can accomplish that miracle, I’m all for it. Perhaps they can agree on a good second dog for Obama’s girls?

Pretty remarkable for a guy who doesn’t see red states or blue states ... all 57 of ‘em.

That is a OUTSTANDING cartoon. Ramirez is great, as always!

And, yes, WE THE PEOPLE are watching you VERY CLOSELY, GOP.

Just wait for the 2012 elections.. they'll change everything. And if not.. well, then they better watch out! There is always 2014!

Go Conservatives, go right!

Election over with, same old, same old.

I don't think so... not this time. The GOPers know they are on a VERY tight leash and that we voters trust them only marginally better than we do the dems. Let's see how this plays out.

Cantor precisely said that the 26 year olds stay on mommy’s insurance, and pre-conditions remain (translates to breaking insurance to usher in single payer). This was said to Matt Laur this morning I believe Rush said.

This is NOT conservatism. This is sneaky state assistance to NANNY STATE. And these are supposed to be “our guys”.

They should have stood strong, exhibited conservatism, defined conservatism and used the moment to TEACH conservatism. Depressing.
