Stubbornly high unemployment -- nearly 15% for those ages 20-24 -- has made finding a job nearly impossible. And without a job, there's nowhere for these young adults to go but back to their old bedrooms, curfews and chore charts. Meet the boomerangers.

It’s a new “certification” added on the curriculum to make it look like a double major. Or so, that’s what his college says..He “almost” never had any problems getting work. His only issue was the pay but that can easily be resolved because his summers were spent interning for At&T.

And these kids out of college are not included in the unemployment statistics. It is much, much worse than the govt is letting on.
22 yr old daughter moved home. Working a temp office job. Her degree is BSN. She is a licensed registered nurse. She cannot find a job in this area that does not require at least 1-3 years experience. Her classmates are finding the same thing.
Oh, and she did not vote for 0bama.
Nurses are in demand all of the U.S. My friend is getting job offers from everywhere. Maybe it’s time for her to relocate.
If you live in a high cost area - there is no amount of salary in order for college grads to live on thweir own.
I always cringe when Rush mocks these people.
Nursing is not the panacea job everyone thinks it is. I tell people who are getting into nursing that nursing is paid mostlyout of public funds. And public funds are going kaput.
They are welcome anytime. Glad to have the chickens all in one coop.
However, the rules changed the day they went to college.

This may come as a surprise to you, sir, but those "liberal arts" degrees do have value. I think that a substantial number of people on Wall Street have such degrees. Mine was in political science (I had hoped to go to law school but when the time came I couldn't afford it) and I got a job as a surety bond underwriter trainee (the firm didn't hire anyone who didn't have a college degee).
You see, employers tend to look at it this way. Possession of a college degree (never mind the major) indicates that that person has a certain degree of intelligence and sticks to the task, in this case, four years of study. Also, one acquires a certain degree of "polish" from the experience. They'll train you to know what they want you to know.
Now, of course, this does not apply to certain disciplines, such as engineering or professions such as medicine. But for some reason folks here on FR are hung up on emphasis on engineering, as though those degrees are the only ones which have value. And it's not so.
But I made out all right. I am retired now and this past year my retirement income and that of my wife came to $95,000. Not bad for a "useless" liberal arts degree. No?
I’m ashamed to admit it but I’m stuck living at home. There are no apartments no one rooms I can afford. I go to school and bust my hide at work and I give my parents all the money I can. It’s pathetic I never thought I’d be 23 and still be stuck here.
Considering the idiocy of my peers they should raise the voting age to 30.
We have nurses in our area (FL) that aren’t getting enough hours. I have a couple friends that are RNs and they’re getting calls to not come in. Evidently the hospitals are low on patients. Probably due to the shortened stays approved by insurance. Anyway, whatever the reason is, these nurses aren’t happy they have lessened hours, but they’re happy they have a job because hospitals in our area are laying off nurses (2 other friends, with same hospital for 20 years, were laid off suddenly last Christmas.)
We are heading to more multigenerantion homes as it is, old school, and that is not a bad thing.

Not insurance, it is the government funding that is not being paid to the hosptials that are mandated to take patients but are not being paid.
I think the whole “stigma” of majoring in stuff like Womyn’s Studies or English Lit does not exist anymore and so kids do major in that sort of stuff and then have a hard time finding job with that as a B.A.
I also think a lot more kids are getting a Master’s degree right after their undergraduate degree and living w/mom and dad makes sense.
Back in the mid-80’s, I remember my dad saying “Why do you kids feel like you have to move out just because you’re out of college?” I guess he was ahead of his time.
Its economic reality - and some of the older people on this site have no clue what young people are dealing with.
When i hear rush rant on this, i shut the radio off =as he could not be more out of touch on this issue.
Do the damn math and itsd plain to see that living by ones self is not an economic possibility for most people in many areas.
They voted for change...
