Nothing in the video to indicate what started the feud. The little girl is a reminder of my childhood with Chorea (a/k/a St. Vitus Dance) which nearly put me under the ground at the age of 7 when combined with Rheumatic Fever. I looked at those blue eyes and that blond pony tail and saw myself at her age. Believe me, she has manned up. To be tortured day and night, headaches you can't even imagine, needles and tests that no amount of “hot chocolate” at bedtime can soothe away in a hospital. Not to have anyone who understands what it is like to be so little and frightened — except Mrs. Brown, a 250 lb. African American nurses aid who took pity on the tears of a little white child who was homesick and afraid and would lie beside me at night until I could go to sleep. Wherever that woman is today, she will always be my hero. I was jammed between her and the wall and was in absolute bliss and would fall asleep at last. Kids were the hurtful ones -- not because they meant to be, they were just kids.
To this day, I can't stand to walk through a children's ward or hospital and see their faces. To hear their cries and look at the fear of the tests that await. 54 years and it still gets me.
To have it right outside her window is like Fred Phelps on steroids. It's sad to see such an attractive young woman as the neighbor so consumed with hate. No matter what the real or imagine slights were, the only one who will be destroyed by the hate is the hater. That child (and her mother) will surely find bliss, healing and comfort in the arms of a loving God and be carried there by a very loving Son.
Nothing anyone could do to the hateful neighbor will equal what awaits her, and nothing anyone can do for that sweet little girl will equal what awaits her. Prayers sent that God blesses that family from one who knows.

I’ll bet a Molotov cocktail would come close to what lies in her future.

Tears here, too.
God Bless You for being a survivor, and God Bless Mrs. Brown, wherever she may be!

Thank you for that story. What a difference an individual can make - for better (as your nurse) or for worse, like these people.

I have no idea what you do for a living, but whatever it is I certainly hope writing is either a vocation or an avocation. I felt as if I were in the room with you. Thanks for the tears—you are very talented.
