Christine O'Donnell upsets Mike Castle in Delaware Senate primary (Massive Hangover Barf Alert)
The Biased Washington Post ^ | 15 Sep 10 | Chris Cizzilla

Marketing consultant Christine O'Donnell upset Rep. Mike Castle in the Delaware Republican Senate primary tonight, handing the tea party movement a major victory and giving Democrats an unexpected chance to hold the First State seat.

O'Donnell, who is making her third run for the Senate in as many elections, relied heavily on national surrogates -- from the Tea Party Express to former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin -- to fuel a shoestring campaign against the iconic Castle who had held elected office in the state for more than four decades.

"The people of Delaware have spoken," said O'Donnell in her victory speech. "No more politics as usual."

___________________________________________________________________

"I'm sad to say the Delaware primary results tonight are straight out of Harry Reid's dream journal," said prominent Republican strategist Mike Murphy of the O'Donnell win.

____________________________________________________________________

The Delaware result is also a major blow to Republicans' hopes of winning back the Senate majority this fall. To do so, the GOP needs a net gain of 10 seats, which, with Delaware now likely to favor Democrats, means that Republicans need to close to a clean sweep in states like California, Wisconsin and Washington.

I was thinking that too. Taking candid photos of somebody is a recipe for disaster as pretty much everybody will look bad if they don’t know they’re being photographed. She still looks good.

O the time will come up
When the wind will stop
And the breeze will cease to be breathing
Like the stillness in the wind
Before the hurricane begins
The hour that the ship comes in

....

And they’ll raise their hands
Saying “we’ll meet all your demands”
But we’ll shout from the bow
“Your days are numbered”
And like Pharoah’s tribe
They’ll be drownded in the tide
And like Goliath
They’ll be conquered

I think Limbaugh’s strong coverage made the difference in the margin, if not the victory itself. He was on the race virtually solid from 1-2 PM. Local coverage and commentary notes that turn-out picked up unexpectedly, at least to Castle and regular Republican observers, in the late afternoon , so much so it spooked them and gave them reason to think turnout had gone beyond what they wanted and supposedly, that’s when castle began to feel “there was a problem, “ and he could lose. That is in line with thier having said all along that their “internal polling” looked good. Furthermore the more conservative House candidate, Urquardt, by PPP poll that first suggested O’Donnell would win, was running ahead of O’Donnell’s numbers in his race ( against a more establishment Republican woman, Rollins). However, Limbaugh, of course , did not mention him. So the voters who were drawn in by Limbaugh’s commentary, and being naive to Urquardt/ Rollins, may just have marked off the alphabetically favored Rollins ( candidates list in alphabetical order on ballot).

Rove looks like a horse,
Standing alone on Main Street,
Surrounded by cars...

To finish the story, Urquardt did win, but narrowly, and finished behind O’Donnell in margin over his opponent, contrary to the PPP polling.

I like the drownded and conquered part best.

The next time some statist boondoggle like cap and trade or card check comes down the line, don't even think about getting all statesmanlike and post-partisan

The next group of Republicans have the message that they can get all statesmanlike and post partisan if it includes cutting government, tort reform and tax reduction.

Good luck to Spector and Castle when they look for work or try to sell their houses. Statist Democrats and Rinos have led the conversion of much of the US economy to a scheme of redistribution complete with declining property prices, eroding asset values and evaporating employment opportunities. What used to be known as the American dream has been crowded out by programs, taxes, lawsuits and regulation.

“...as enemies of Conservative principles.”

Properly articulated, that should be “enemies of America”...because that is exactly what all these fools are...too un-educated, too self-absorbed in their narcissistic policies to be able to see the train wreck they are creating.

Haiku Guy:

“Rove looks like a horse,
Standing alone on Main Street,
Surrounded by cars...”

Very good, and it sums up the situation. Conservative enthusiasm is barreling down the road at 100 MPH and the so-called conservative pundits want us to slow to a crawl. A wise person would hop on the high speed express.

Frankly, I’m amazed that so many of the Republican leaders haven’t caught on. After all, they’re politicians. They should be somewhat adept at sensing the political winds. I guess the rot runs deep.

Rove’s horse lost the race,
Tethered it to a RINO!
What a stupid move.

In South Carolina, the Good Ol’ Boy RINOs trashed Nikki Halley before the state’s primary for governor. She won with 49% of the vote. Maybe we’re seeing a trend? RINOs trash conservative women; conservative wins big.

Good job, Delaware patriots.
