Christine O'Donnell upsets Mike Castle in Delaware Senate primary (Massive Hangover Barf Alert)
The Biased Washington Post ^ | 15 Sep 10 | Chris Cizzilla

Marketing consultant Christine O'Donnell upset Rep. Mike Castle in the Delaware Republican Senate primary tonight, handing the tea party movement a major victory and giving Democrats an unexpected chance to hold the First State seat.

O'Donnell, who is making her third run for the Senate in as many elections, relied heavily on national surrogates -- from the Tea Party Express to former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin -- to fuel a shoestring campaign against the iconic Castle who had held elected office in the state for more than four decades.

"The people of Delaware have spoken," said O'Donnell in her victory speech. "No more politics as usual."

___________________________________________________________________

"I'm sad to say the Delaware primary results tonight are straight out of Harry Reid's dream journal," said prominent Republican strategist Mike Murphy of the O'Donnell win.

____________________________________________________________________

The Delaware result is also a major blow to Republicans' hopes of winning back the Senate majority this fall. To do so, the GOP needs a net gain of 10 seats, which, with Delaware now likely to favor Democrats, means that Republicans need to close to a clean sweep in states like California, Wisconsin and Washington.

This article is dripping with venom and bias. No surprise here, but it is so blatant.

First, the picture the Washington Compost chose to run:

Really?

News photographers take literally thousands of pictures per night. Thousands. I have seen photographers go through 5 cameras that they have ready and hanging about their necks in 2 minutes flat.

I guess they were going for the "Stupid Giddy Valley Girl" look.

Next, the "spin" has already been written. They must have been Twittering each other all night long with "The MESSAGE!"

A Tea Party candidate can't win, and that makes everything better for the Communists......errrr...Democrats.

Yeah, that's the ticket.

Even with a less than ideal expression, she looks great. And she looked great on tv. Really really great.

She’s on Fox and Friends 830 am.

Let the word go forth to all Republicans in Congress. The next time some statist boondoggle like cap and trade or card check comes down the line, don't even think about getting all statesmanlike and post-partisan, or you will wind up just like Mike Castle, dumped on the side of the road. You are in a political party, so start acting like it.

And to the RNC, we are going to have to make this marriage work. I know you're really upset that we don't like some of your friends, but some of your friends are a$$holes, and it's high time you faced up to that. Just remember, we've been working together. You've done well, but without us, you would still be lost in the political wilderness.

It is amazing how much “advice” the MSM and establishment RINOs wants to give conservatives. They kept saying that if Castle wasn’t nominated, then the RAT would definitely win. I can understand the RINOs motivation, but the MSM is more puzzling. If O’Donnell is the easier candidate, wouldn’t they be campaigning for her? Perhaps they realize that she will be tougher than Castle since she is a better alternative than the RAT.

Amen. You can't be to the left of Arlen Specter and expect support in 2010.

Exactly.

The MSM and Democrats fear the Tea Party ideas and candidates far greater than anything else.

What they really want is Milquetoast Republicans like Olympia Snowe who vote the Democrat line.

I love Haiku games. After years of lurking, I think it was a Rachel Corrie Haiku thread that convinced me to sign up and start posting.

Here’s my try:

It’s NOT about whether Christine O’ Donnell can win this against Coons, or whoever the Dems are putting up for the Senate at all IMO.

I believe what is happening is the TEA Party has been cleaning the Leftists clock for them, and the Leftists, the Democrats, Stealth Leftist RINO’s are taking a stand. Just happens they are taking a stand against the TEA Party using this particular race between O’ Donnell, and Castle as the club to beat them with.

The Democrats, and the Stealth Leftist RINO’s you will note are the ones along with their usual supporters in the MSM that are the ones standing up and identifying themselves as enemies of Conservative principles.

O’Donnell, and the TEA Party with all of our help could turn this whole thing right back in their faces, and help win one for America.

The sad thing is conservative victories can never be a subject of celebration in media. Dubya was not supposed to won, either time, and he was never welcomed into DC society. I really hope Sarah keeps up the heat and gets this gal elected. Also beat Boxer and the other rats to get a majority. DeMint is right about not wanting any more Spectors.

Those who write and think that the general election is lost are chasing a foolish dream. Chris Coons is unknown below the canal. He holds the position of New Castle County Executive, a make work job. He raised taxes this year because the county was in “bad shape”. Well, the county ran a surplus, thanks to low ball estimates of revenue. Taxpayers are angry. Coons is NOT a shoo-in, no matter how many times they repeat the lie.

All the establishment GOP has done is show its true colors, as if anybody had their doubts. These people are interested only in preserving their hold on our freedoms and taking our money.

We will tolerate no more “hold your nose” candidates. We will not accept “say one thing, do another” politicians who refuse to listen to we, the people.

Don’t doubt for one minute that this is a concerted effort to deny Governor Sarah Palin the nomination. The GOP has supported perverts, theives and criminals; but somehow, they cannot support a (gasp!)thinking, principled woman. You know what, DE GOP and NRSC, take your “support” and money and shove it. When Christine O’Donnell wins, she can tell you the same thing. But then again, she’s got too much class.

If the Liberals can get enough RINOs into the Senate, they can let the Tea Party have their victories, let the baby have his bottle, and still get their agenda passed unscathed.

But if we toss out the RINOs and get true Conservatives into the Senate, the jig is up, and the agenda dies.
