DALLAS, Aug. 19 (UPI) -- American Airlines says it has suspended an employee while it investigates reports he stole property from planes at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport.

Henry Ibarra, 59, allegedly stole property from planes he cleaned, and also from American Airlines, The Dallas Morning News said Thursday.

Ibarra, a 41-year employee, was arrested after a passenger said she left her Palm Pre on a plane at the airport last month. Police said they traced it to Ibarra's house and discovered he had given it to his son.

Police said they discovered 171 items Ibarra allegedly stole from passengers and the airline, including cameras, electronic devices and other items worth thousands of dollars.

"American Airlines takes situations like this very seriously," said airline spokeswoman Andrea Huguely. "While the overwhelming majority of our employees are honest and hardworking, we have absolutely no tolerance for any dishonest behavior and will take appropriate action as necessary."

Oh, the heading implied someone was stealing airplanes. I was wondering how you do that — get an XXXL overcoat and smuggle it out the back?

Wasn’t there a plane somewhere that went missing a couple of years ago — whatever became of that?

He’s been there for 41 years and they haven’t caught him before now? Sheesh

There’s a simple solution to making sure people like Mr. Ibarra don’t “steal” your stuff:

DON’T LEAVE THEM ON THE PLANE WHEN YOU GET OFF!

Simple, no?

That’s probably the same reason Iberra used to justify his “finds”, no?

I used to travel a lot on AA.

I left something on the plane a couple of times. It happens when you work all day and take the last flight home.

The items were easily identifiable. But, they never made it to "lost and found".

Now, I know why.

It hasn't been seen...

Hotels and airplanes -- somehow they never retrieve/find ANYTHING you leave behind.

Over the years I have turned in wallets, cell phones, PDAs and one time a notebook PC. I wonder if any ever made it back to the owner.
