NBC’s Matt Lauer Lands First One-On-One Interview With George W. Bush
Mediaite ^ | 8-2-10 | Steve Krakauer

Posted on 08/02/2010 9:50:14 AM PDT by afraidfortherepublic

With his new book, Decision Points set for release the next day, former Pres. George W. Bush will sit down with NBC’s Today show anchor Matt Lauer in a one-hour prime time special.

It will be the first one-on-one interview Pres. Bush has agreed to since he left office. From the Today show site:

Since leaving office, President George W. Bush has never granted a one-on-one television interview about his presidency. But he’ll sit down with TODAY’s Matt Lauer in a special “Matt Lauer Reports” airing in prime time on Monday, Nov. 8.

President Bush will also join Matt live on TODAY on Wednesday, Nov. 10. He will talk about his book “Decision Points,” which will be released by Crown Publishers Nov. 9, and about key choices he has made in both his political and personal life.

Choosing NBC, over say Fox News, to tell his story shows the mass audience George W. Bush is looking for in anticipation of his book release (he also recently joined Facebook). Also, the interview takes place nearly a week after the 2010 midterm elections.

Lauer has interviewed Pres. Bush a couple times during his presidency – in 2004 and in 2006

Mr. Bush appears to have lost [the rest of] his marbles.

W is an IDIOT for going on this show!

I'm with ya. For the first time I am thinking the leftists were right about his intelligence.

He is a FOOL for doing this. And rewarding his (and our) enemies.

W needs to get Chris Christie to coach him on how to deal with Lauer.

That's only 3½ months from now...
Do you think Dubya will finish reading it by then?

I hope “W” isn’t shy about standing up for himself

You can't be serious?

Nov. 8 is after the elections.

Bush may have his chance to gloat ... just a little bit.

“W is a big boy and knows that Matt Wower is NOT his friend!”

I doubt it. W and HW Bushes have been incredibly naive about the intentions of their enemies.

He surely is. Misguided and mal-advised if you ask me. One of the very last people to whom he should grant a post-Presidency interview is Matt “Suck it” Lauer.

OH CRAP, GEORGE. Are you so whipped that Laura is making you give the Commie NBC your first interview?

Bush is not a great man, he’s a traitor. We got to save capitalism by killing it! Yeah right! He’s is part of the ruling elite who can not get over the fact that a few select few can run the economy better than individuals

They want to make sure they can put a face on this election. Remember, the mantra for this election is this is GW Bush’s economy not the Democrats. Bad idea GW.

W. probably doesn’t want anyone to see it. Either that, or he specifically wants to send a “Miss me yet?” message to liberals, as a way of grinding their face in it.

Even so, it is flawed reasoning. He might as well have an interview with some random local news talking head bimbo, who would be thrilled to meet an honest celebrity for once in her life.

From the article :

"...in a special “Matt Lauer Reports” airing in prime time on Monday, Nov. 8."

IOW, it'll be aired a few days after the election.

Bush is part of the Ruling Class so Matt Lauer is a brother in arms. Reagan would not be caught dead in front of this liberal douche.
