Watch out Sarah Palin, Newt Gingrich is 'serious' about running for president in 2012
NY Daily News ^ | 7/12/10 | Joe Tacopino

Move over Sarah Palin, Newt is "serious."

Newt Gingrich said he is considering a run for president in 2012 and will make his final decision early next year.

"I've never been this serious," Gingrich told the AP.

The former House speaker said he will be helping fellow Republicans get reelected in the midterms, but will decide in February or March whether to seek the nomination.

Credited with the Republican takeover of the House during Bill Clinton’s presidency in 1994, Gingrich even fronted the movement to impeach the President during the Monica Lewinsky scandal.

Palin and Gingrich are champagne compared to the bilgewater we’ve been served up by the Republicans since Reagan. Bush, Bush, Dole, Bush, Bush, McCain . . . that’s been the lineup since Reagan.

Were you hit in the head with a shovel as a child? (rhetorical question indicating strong disagreement with your viewpoint).

“Same here, but then, I will vote for whoever is running against Obama.”

Hopefully there will be a lot of that sentiment. No more pouting at home, the usurper must go away.

newt has the best mind around.

his presence will force looking at issues long term rather than for just the next 5 minutes.

he will run to introduce a new direction to counter the failed moonbat excess.

I like Newt as a speaker and pundit. When he is good he is really good. As a speaker and a pundit.

When he went weak in the war on Clinton he ruined himself politically and it is doubtful he can ever recover. He had one chance only and that was to rally the troops when the Obamist mob took power, and go after the O hammer and tong.

He didn’t do it. His one chance to redeem himself was to go after Obama like a screaming banshee and he didn’t do it.

So he will never be president. In the fight of the century, the leaders are already leading and the fighters are already fighting. Its a pretty short list. Palin, DeMint, Bachmann, Ryan, maybe a couple of others. Newt has done pretty good too but with his negatives he needed to be all over O like fire on kerosene and he wasn’t.

The other wannabes? Romney? Pawlenty? Not even in the game. No one missed them and no one is going to miss them. Anyone running this season who thinks his rival is a fellow Republican doesn’t understand that the day for normal politics is over. Those days will come around again but it isn’t now.

The MSM went after Reagan. He won. They go after every Republican and the wuss defeatists say “go with the moderate, he’s got a better chance. Then we end up with Bush 1 (one term) or Bush 2 (two terms leading to the threatened destruction of the country through debt piled up by Bush and Obama).

If only FReepers could elect the president Sarah would win by landslide.

Unfortunately there are leftists, centrists, moderates. And many conservatives even hate Palin. Just yesterday I was having a beer with a country club member and he said he could never vote for Palin. I asked him on which specific issues he disagrees with Palin. He could not come up with one!

Sometimes, though, I wish she’d stop talking about two sentences before she does.

That's my only hang up right now. I hope someone from her camp is reading this too. If she thinks the thought is over, reel that mouth in!!! It tends to go from time to time.

Other than that, hope I can vote for her in 2012.

This actually helps Palin. To the degree that Gingrich gets support, it is going to come out of the hides of Romney and Pawlenty.

He also showed during the Scozzafava kerfuffle that he doesn’t have the political intuition to deal with the feel of the electorate. He held on to Scozzy and finally caved when it did no good. He doesn’t even get points for sticking to an unpopular political principle. Politically, it would have been better for him had he flipped early instead of late.

I do not remember “hate” against Reagan. What I remember is they denigrated him as a mere actor, and not an intellect.
There never was an ongoing skit on Saturday Night Live making fun of him.

Actually, they did one I remember, where he acted the amiable dunce in public, while behind the scenes he was shouting orders in half a dozen different languages and running the show like an evil genius. Then someone from the public would come in and he'd go back into the amiable dunce routine until they were safely hustled out of the room.

Pretty funny, I thought.

SNL is watched by 10-15 Million.
Tina Fey has much more name recognition than Doonesbury cartoon.
Doonesbury is read by may be 500,000.
No comparison.

Don't think Newt will make it and he has made more than a few mistakes; but he has learned it seems, from most of them.

That said; I love Sarah; but please, she has made some mistakes as well - and that is OK by me. . .looking for ' the perfect' is futile and will settle for 'close to'. . .As for denigrating all Repubs - save Sarah - believe it is simply a critical mistake and a biting off one's nose to spite the face it is attached to. And of course, folks...IMHO! So please, no panties in wad here.

Personally, think we have no room for that; nor the attitude that it is 'my way'or the highway; or to hell with it; and have America survive the trip. We face a bitter, unforgiving future, if we allow any semblance of this Administration to politically survive, to serve another term.

Are you telling me a 2 inch X 10 inch cartoon on page 45 has the same impact as main stream media TV on a major channel of NBC in living color and performed brilliantly by Tina Fey who I had never heard of before?

Making notes: DO not hire Mere Survival as my campaign consultant when I run for a political office.

Whoever he ends up running against should flood the country with bumper stickers with her sitting with the puke.

Why should Democrats get a pass because they are “Democrats?”

Did you never hear of Doonesbury before or Tina Fey? Don’t understand what you are saying. You are a kid if you didn’t hear of Doonesbury before and you aren’t learning; you are talking to someone that could wipe his own fanny during the 1980 election and you should listen. They came after Reagan with everything they had. He won. Simple as that.

The media in those days was 3 networks, newspapers and weekly mags. Doonsebury was big, Trudeau’s wife was the anchor of the Today Show, there was no FOX and the network news was biased against Reagan with no counter in the media.
