Move over Sarah Palin, Newt is "serious."

Newt Gingrich said he is considering a run for president in 2012 and will make his final decision early next year.

"I've never been this serious," Gingrich told the AP.

The former House speaker said he will be helping fellow Republicans get reelected in the midterms, but will decide in February or March whether to seek the nomination.

Credited with the Republican takeover of the House during Bill Clinton’s presidency in 1994, Gingrich even fronted the movement to impeach the President during the Monica Lewinsky scandal.

I would vote for Palin in a heartbeat, after all I voted for her in the last election.

I’ll take Palin over just about anyone this side of Zombie Reagan.

newt won’t be on the radar even if he does manage to gank the nomination.

I love Sarah and think she would make a great President. Sometimes, though, I wish she’d stop talking about two sentences before she does. Like when she just used the word “refutiate” on Hannity.

There’s “refute” and “repudiate”, but I’ve never heard “refutiate”.

Is the threat of Newt running for President as serious as the threat posed by Global Warming?

That’s the funniest thing I’ve heard all day!

Newt is done. I’ll take Sarah any day over most Republicans in DC these days.

This must be for the amusement of the media empire. They only wish they had either of them 2 to kick around.

The kind of conservative we need to run would be setting that sofa aflame, not sitting on it.

Newt needs to take his smug little self to the back room and work on strategy and speech writing. He’s over.

Sit down and shaddup, Newt. All you suck-up Pubbies keep this shit up, and I'm gonna run. And nobody - on either side of the ideological spectrum - is gonna like my platform.

"But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: for men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away, for his name is Obama."

Newt certainly has bad baggage but he will add to the discussion in a positive manner. Let ‘em all run, we will sort them out. That’s America.

Consider yourself flamed.

Newt is damaged goods. His conduct while his wife was in the hospital was contemptible.

Democrats can get away with that crap because they are sleazy and no one expects anything else from them. Conservatives are expected to maintain a higher standard.

There is a role for Newt, but not as President.
