Moynihan was wrong about global warming but he was one of the last Democrats to truly love his country.
He pushed for the Venona transcripts to be declassified which cast a favorable light on McCarthy's hunt for communists in government.
He also championed the idea that deviancy should be rejected and defined down instead of celebrated.
He also suggested benign neglect of minorities instead of using socialism to addict them to the government dole and diminish their abilities and initiative.
