Outside of Republicans, shes not popular at all. According to our NBC/WSJ poll, just 29% view her favorably, compared with 43% who view her unfavorably (not far from George W. Bushs 29%-50% score). In addition, the poll shows that 52% have problems with a candidate who has been endorsed by Palin, versus only 25% who are comfortable with that attribute. Weve said it before and well say it again: Palin is more of a political celebrity than a political figure. ~First Read
This is true, but there is nothing here about Palin that we know now that we didnt already know a year or a year and a half ago. Her unfavorables among non-Republicans have gone up steadily since the Republican convention in 2008, and outside of a dedicated core of admirers and a few critics no one is taking her political chances seriously. This is the same as it has been for a very long time. As Josh Green notes, it would normally be absurd to think that someone with a 14-point favorability deficit was a serious presidential contender, and there arent that many non-partisans who think that she is anything of the kind. The reality is that the more independents and Democrats see of Palin, the less they like. In a country where these people make up at least 65% of the electorate, Palin is essentially unelectable in a general election. This isnt a difficult call to make. The question to which we dont know the answer yet is whether the GOP is so willfully blind to this reality and so bent on self-destruction in 2012 that the party nominates her anyway. For all of the reasons I have given before, I very much doubt that Republicans are this foolish. It is possible that the GOP will decide

Go Grizzly Mama, all the way!!!!
Yeah this polls smells like BS. Every candidate that she has endorsed ends up winning. So if she is so unpopular, why do candidates beg for her endorsement.
Just an interesting note, from Rasmussen:
The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Friday shows that 24% of the nation's voters Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as president. Forty-four percent (44%) Strongly Disapprove, giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -20
We'll see where the socialist in our White House stands in 2012 and where Palin stands, but it's silly to dismiss her (or even him) at this point in the election cycle. Four years ago we had it on the best authority that we'd be watching Giuliani v. Clinton with Hillary essentially a guaranteed winner in 2008.
Everyone she endorses win. Who has this guy endorsed?
The writer also ignores the fact that no Republican can win without the passionate support of grassroots conservatives.
I don’t buy it. I don’t see how her unfavorables go up after what they did to her during the election. If anything, I think that the more exposure she gets, the more soccer moms realize she’s not the anti-christ. My guess is that polls are being skewed by pollsters trying to kill her chances.
Pat Buchanan’s magazine is CINO. The guy is a loser.
Although I don’t doubt that leftists hate Sarah, and that a lot of other people have likely had the wool pulled over their eyes by the MSM.
Ronald Reagan had the same problem, until people watched him in the debates and were able to judge him for himself against a clearly weaker opponent. But the media did a pretty good job of demonizing until Reagan got the chance to speak directly to the American people on Prime Time TV.
That is because this poll is as reliable as Obama saying that jobs are being created LOL. This poll is pure BS. If people were turned off by the people she was endorsing then guess what, some people would not have been up in arms about her endorsing McCain and Fiorina, they would have been all for it since it would have ruined their chances. By the time 2012 comes around, my doggy could beat Obama..these rats are just afraid of Sarah Palin in the White House..they can smell it coming and it scares the crap out of them
Funny the crap that gets printed.....
Ronnie Reagan had people that did not care for him either, at first. Then look at what he did for America as President...a REAL President I might add.
Palin bashers are usually anti-American, scared liberal cowards, or worse.
Outside of Republicans, no one likes Republicans, according to these polls. So what else is new?
We’ll never win by trying to get “them” to like “us.”
We can only win by consolidating our base and helping to break apart the loose ties that hold “their” base together.
I have an idea for a poll...Would you prefer to give Obama four more years to enact his policies or give Palin a chance to fix our problems?
If he is writing for Buchanan’s mag, he is likely about as anti-Frum as you could get.
I like Sarah Palin because she is so much smarter than the average Republican officeholder, such as Mitch McConnell, Orrin Hatch, John Boehner ......... et al.
The author of this article is a typical hand wringing ass clown who is worrying about things that will take care of themselves.
It is my feeling that she is wise enough not to run.
Her time will come.
She will be the first woman to become President, but it won’t be 2012.
My guess is that Romney will be our next President.
He is not a particular favorite of mine, but realistically he is as conservative as any Rockfeller Republican named George Bush or the Kansas Conciliator Bob Dole.
Okay, Daniel. You say that nominating Sarah Palin is tantamount to conceding the 2012 election. Who among the likely field would do better? Or more to the point, are you under the impression that any of them would? And if so, why?
I love her too.
Well, Mitt will get elected w/out my vote.
The RINO relic lost last time out without mine.
NBC/WSJ——Pleezzzzz. If I am not mistaken their sample is average Americans and not registered voters.
These polls are based on a false media image. Palin will smash this image once she starts to campaign with her own message. The one thing none of these clowns take into account is the retail side of politics. Palin is a master at retail politics and that is the game changer.
I pick the most obvious choice :-) How about we impeach Obama now and put Palin in.
Sarah will do what she will do and ask for God to guide her along the way. Ronald Reagan followed that path and it worked out ok for him. If Sarah's path carries her to the oval office in 2013 or 2017 it is ok with me. We just do not under any circumstance need a RHINO sliding into the office and subverting a true conservative.
snicker snort
Another anti-Israel Buchananite hates Palin. Big deal.
I actually believed that Romney would likely be the most competent person to be President (in 2008) despite his major gaffe here in Massachusetts of signing that outrageous Health Care Law.
I'm getting old enough to realize that my days are numbered. I have more concerns about posterity than I do for my own future.
Sarah Palin is the only person in sight that seems to be of a similar mindset.
There is nobody better out there right now.
Well the new Governor of New Jersey could be a contender, but he has only been in office for a few months.
Lets see what happens during the next year or so.
LLS
If this is the case, Palin would help her prospects considerably (in terms of winning over mushy moderates) by getting a serious job, where she is responsible for solving - FOR REAL, NOT JUST TALKING - serious issues.
I understand why she left the Alaskan Governor's office. However, that act was very damaging to her Presidential prospects.
Don’t believe the poll, but it is amazing how the American people can be manipulated against a person who certainly never did anything wrong and has done a lot of good.
He will never get my vote.
LLS
I could smell it on his writing.

“the poll shows that 52% have problems with a candidate who has been endorsed by Palin, versus only 25% who are comfortable with that attribute.” REALLY? Every candidate that she has endorsed has one. How does buchanan call himself conservative?
Even if Palin has high negatives that doesn’t mean she can’t be elected, once she has center stage in a general election. It’s like all the people who thought Reagan wasn’t electable until he proved himself in the debates with Carter.
Was just in ALASKA for two weeks.
While in Skagway, we saw a Sarah Palin store. So I went in, Dad photographed me next to the full-size cutout of her, bought a coffee mug for my next evil capitalist gig, a few pins and smiled at all the other people in the store. Ahhhhhh.
Thanks, Al B. I was just about to research the writer.
I’m not a silly Pollyanna. I know that Sarah will have to reintroduce herself to the doubters that the media persuaded that she was Tina Fey dumb, but I also know that Sarah is up to that challenge.
She’s media smart now and she’s ready to be POTUS. Let her shine and ‘bring it on.’
You make a good point.
But remember Ronald Reagan had only one serious job as you put it and that was the governorship of California.
After he left office, he did pretty much what Palin is doing now.
Since cable news commentary was not option then he did the next best thing,he had his own radio commentary show, did a lot of speaking, and worked hard for candidates who were conservative.
That is why I said 2012 would not be her year.
She is doing good works for conservatism just as Reagan did when he left the governorship.
At some point she will have accrued the political capital to cash in with the electorate just as Reagan did.
Since this Magazine is anti war and anti Israel
am so glad they don’t like Sarah Palin. I would not want a magazine like that supporting her.
Like Duncan Hunter Sarah Palin suports the war against the IslamOfascists and supports Israel.
Thanks for exposing the paleos who back the PaulBots and bash Sarah
And that's after Ronald Reagan had spent 3 decades in public life, was running for president for the 3rd time and was up against the disaster called Jimmy Carter.
Despite all that, Americans STILL were not sure about him until that debate because of the constant anti-Reagan media drumbeat. The polls were a dead heat and Carter was ticking up. The deal was closed in one night.
Post-election polls showed 2/3 of Americans thought Palin had gotten a raw deal from the media. If she is the nominee, she'll get a serious second look. It'll be up to her.
For a “conservative” magazine, I saw an awful lot of Ron Paul/libertarian links in there. (It appears that libertarians in this case just HATE competition).
Problem is, that's what has her detractors in a dither. They don't WANT her to have an honest shot.
AP/GFK has a poll out today with Palin’s fav/unfav at 45/52. Obama is at 45/55 with Rasmussen. LOL.
Exactly so. Her detractors are trying to stop her from getting her honest shot and she’s worked hard for it.
Well, she’s going to get it and she’s going to be our nomineee. There’s nobody better and nobody comes close to her.
This thread is useles without, ahem, pics.
Exactly so. Her detractors are trying to stop her from getting her honest shot and she’s worked hard for it.
Well, IF SHE WANTS IT, she’s going to get it and she’s going to be our nominee. There’s nobody better and nobody comes close to her.

Thank you very much!
Nice gams, as well.
YOU BETCHA!
In the last 12 months, I didn’t realize there were this many stupid citizens in this country. I guess I’d better start stocking more ammo....
its Palin or BUST
Obama have a -24 unfavorable rating yet the author still he have a chance over Palin’s -14 unfavorable rating. Author is cherry picking poll data
