As we first reported last week, in an article that was met with much original skepticism, the Pentagon has now confirmed that a fleet of 12 warships has passed the Suez Canal, and is now likely awaiting orders to support the escalation in the Persian Gulf. The attached image from Stratfor shows the latest positioning of US aircraft carrier groups as of June 23: the USS Harry Truman (CVN-75) is now right next to USS Eisenhower (CVN 69), both of which areAs for the catalyst the two carriers may be anticipating, we provide the following update from the Gulf Daily News where we read that Israel may be on the verge of an attack of Iran, with an incursion originating from military bases in Azerbaijan and Georgia. waiting patiently just off Iran.

I was in the Persian Gulf in the late 90's, we had four carriers in the Gulf for a short time and all we did was make circles in the water.

This doesn’t feel like a pre-attack surge. ...and obama doesn’t have any interest in dealing with Iran.
There also isn’t much going on to lay the political groundwork for a strike against Iran.
That’s a little too bold for Obama. It could be viewed as littering. I don’t think he has enough backbone for that.
That is the beauty of it. Israel initiates combat right out of the blue. The administration had little warning that Israel was actually ready to launch the attack. Israel deemed the attack a National Security issue. The press follows along like little french poodles.
Just thought I'd ask.

I said about a year or more ago, on a FR thread, that if Obama’s back was to the wall come election time, he would pull a rabbit out of the hat and attack Iran (or back up Israel, if he makes them do his dirty work), in order to enhance his ratings. I still think that.

These people pat themselves on the back for very little cause. Carrier Battle Groups do not slip unobtrusively though the Suez Canal. They are highly visible and anybody can and does see. And carriers have been rotated in and out of the Persian Gulf for decades now.
They report business as usual, and expect applause.
The US and Israeli’s know what the Iranians have in their inventory..it is a step by step process destroying them.
Of Course they do.
If we ever survive his presidency, just think ... someday we will have a carrier named the USS Barack H. Obama!

Do you think bringing in martial law to control all the mobs he's angered is on his agenda? Then he could call off the November election. Especially if there's a mid east war. Martial law would appeal to a wannabe dictator.
1 1/2yrs you ago couldn't have written the stuff Obama has pulled off. No one would have believed it and fiction must be believable. He may create another crisis he just can't waste.
HEADS UP!!! His cousin Odinga's supporters slaughtered thousands of opposition peasants in Kenya when he lost an election 2 years ago. Obama had campaigned for Odinga.
I think Vegas is gonna run 50-50 odds on this. Equal chances he will back Israel or back Iran. Now he probably will remain in character and vote present. So I expect attacks on both Iran and Israel. If Israel appears to be winning, he will assist Iran. After all, we must have fairness.
OK, but better to be quiet.
If there is a MidEast War and all the Iranian Allies come to their defense, it could get quite interesting. We would have Venezuela counter attack, oh... wait... They already have struck and taken some US Oil Platforms. At any rate, we would also have North Korea make a hostile move towards South Korea. oh... wait... They just sunk one of their mainline Naval vessels. Hmmm.. Wonder what Cuba is gonna do.
We have the force in Iraq to stop an Iranian Ground assault, but in the last major war they fought, they used Biological and Chemical WMD on Saddam's troops as a response to Saddam using them to stop the waves of Mujahadeen suicide bombers. Their Mahdi ressurection principals call for a fire to appear over Baghdad during an attack on Israel. That is right where the US has its major force deployment, so we are where we have to be and have had plenty of time to get ready. The question is does Obama have the stomach for what could happen.
