Report: Insubordinate McChrystal Called Back to Washington for White House Meeting
Tuesday, June 22, 2010 | Kristinn

Posted on 06/22/2010 4:07:18 AM PDT by kristinn

NBC News' Savannah Guthrie reports this morning that Gen. Stanley McChrystal is being called to Washington for a meeting at the White House tomorrow in the wake of a Rolling Stone article that has exposed McChrystal and his staff as mockingly disrespectful of their civilian overseers, including their commander-in-chief President Barack Obama.

Guthrie posted at Twitter:

McChrystal has been ordered to the Sit Rom tomorrow to explain his stmts criticizing admin officials to Rolling Stone to POTUS in person 15 minutes ago via UberTwitter

Guthrie added: "McChrystal has been calling around town apologizing to officials."

The Atlantic reported late last night that McChrystal had been called by numerous top officials last night:

Within hours after today's Rolling Stone story broke, McChrystal was called by the White House, the Secretary of Defense, and the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. They were not happy.

The Atlantic also notes that McChrystal never completely had the trust of the Obama administration:

Even though McChrystal voted for Obama and told him so during their first meeting, he sensed that a number of senior White House aides didn't really believe that the former commander of the military's special missions unit during the Bush-Cheney years was suddenly on their side. National Security Adviser James Jones, who is a bit of cipher to McChrystal's team, may or may not have been one of these aides. No one in the West Wing bought all that liberal internet chatter about JSOC's alleged crimes -- but no one really didn't buy it, either.

” Voted for the black guy “

Mistakes:

1. He’s half white
2. He’s spent a lot of time being raised outside of the US.
3. Reverend Wright, Bill Ayers... questionable friends...
3. We really don’t know who he is.... Thanks MSM

This is not American Idol.... Wake up.... Electing based on empty words, and popularity put us right where we are now.

Hopefully we can recover...................

You're wrong.

State of the Union Messages to the Congress are mandated by Article II, Section 3 of the United States Constitution which states,"He shall from time to time give to the Congress information of the state of the union, and recommend to their consideration such measures as he shall judge necessary and expedient;".

There’s no way this can be taken at face value. Anyone who gets to the level of general is more politician than soldier. The good general knew very well that his remarks were out of line when he made them and that they would generate a controversy when published. This is all theater for some undisclosed reason.

When the facts of a matter don’t make sense, you don’t have all of the facts.

Any military person who voted for Barry is a disgrace to the uniform.

There are a number who did, but now regret that decision. I'd bet that 99% of the gays voted for zero.

It took me a cover ot two to get it—I’m 65 and counting. But given this guy’s past performance it’s as good an explanation as any.

The SOB has been toeing the Marxist Usurper’s line ever since his appointmnent as Afghanistan commander. He is putting our soldiers at greater risk by adopting the current ROE.

I wonder why he and his staff are belatedly speaking out—and through a leftist organ to boot.

If McChrystal disagrees with the President, he needs to resign his commission and then say so. He cannot openly mock a President while still on active duty, period.

What I do not understand is why a US general would be even talking with Rolling Stone. Seems crazy.

It appears that even a General starts to consider himself a celebrity, and is just playing that role like his commander-in-chief.

You're wrong.

Actually I am right.

State of the Union Messages to the Congress are mandated by Article II, Section 3 of the United States Constitution...

True. But it does not mandate that the speech be given in person, and from the time of Thomas Jefferson up until Woodrow Wilson in 1913 the President informed Congress of the state of the Union in writing only. And presidents after Wilson have occasionally declined to give the state of the Union in person. The last president to do so was Carter in 1981.

Separation of powers denies the president the right to do much of anyting in the Capitol without invitation. That includes addressing the Congress, either jointly or separately.

“How can one possibly be a serving General officer, and vote for the suicide of the nation he is sworn to protect?”

Amen!

When I read that he voted for Lord 0haha, any support/pity I might have had for him got flushed down into the sewer system.

A mental illness runs through the DNA of the current rats and those who supported and voted for them.

Trust no one in any position of responsibility who voted for Lord 0haha if they are in government or running/managing a business, a corporation or any military group.

Their allegiance is to their party and whatever damage that party does to America. They hate America and anyone who supports America and our constitution.

Not exactly. WAR is governance. There is a time for the military to "BE the governance."

I pray never within the borders of the nation

“Lord 0haha”...I like it. That’s definitely what he is, just like his namesake, an elitist traitor to his country.

What was McChrystal thinking??????

Everyone wants to be a rock star. And to go on Leno. And Idol. SNL. And on Dancing with the Stars. That's why we have the dimwitted rejects from America's got Talent running the country, always looking in the mirror, hurrying to the next gig
