HOUSTON — BP had to halt its ambitious effort to plug its stricken oil well in the Gulf of Mexico on Thursday afternoon when engineers saw that too much of the drilling fluid they were injecting into the well was escaping along with the leaking crude oil.

So why do we have the rest of the media out there claiming “It worked!?” Oh, I guess they were just feeling overly exhuberant from the Street Punk’s presser.

When they first announced that the top-fill worked this morning, I tweeted that maybe I had seen too many disaster movies but don't they always think the fix worked right before the entire thing blows?

Cut to the control room celebration scene with the one skeptical tech starting at his computer monitor with a frown on his face and shaking his head ever so slightly. Then he looks up and says, "Jim, I think you better take a look at this.".

Because The One spoke.

So shall it be written, so shall it be done.

This sucks, but the one ray of light is that Obama took credit for stopping it, then it turns out it's not stopped.

If they have fractured the bed formation.....which was a worry......it’s the relief wells or nothing. Just damn.

This rather incomplete article bodes potential serious ill for the procedure. An earlier article, posted here on FR, the link for which I do not have, stated that successful mud injection could be easier said than done because the mud might be leaking out of the bore through cracks in brittle rock formations, in which case the mud would be essentially consumed trying to fill a nearly infinite void. One of the problems with this well, also mentioned in an earlier article, is that BP sped up drilling to reduce costs and started cracking brittle formations. If that speed drilling and accompanying cracking continued until the day of the blowout, then a lot of the mud just might be wasted, meaning the plugging will take a lot longer than hoped for.

I wondered why some of the matter leaking from the well was very light colored and some was much darker. I know that sounds elementary because I am no engineer, but it just didn’t look right.

I don’t know why so many on FR are so desperate to believe any so called “good news” yet they dismiss what other experts world wide are saying. It’s weird. I’m tired of providing links and evidence. I’ll just wait until they can no longer deny it and say I told you so. If I’m wrong, they WOO HOO. I live in FL, I want it stopped immediately but I’m not going to to pretend it’s all okay when it’s not.

Damn! I feel so sorry for the citizens of the Gulf States. Do you know if any credible organization has started a relief fund yet?
