SPARTANBURG, S.C. -- A Spartanburg County judge has ordered a political action committee to pull it's ads. ReformSC is running ads in support of Republican candidate for governor Nikki Haley. Judge James Hayes issued the order at the request of Haley primary opponent Rep. Gresham Barrett and three unnamed donors to ReformSC.

An issue in SC recently is that the pols at the State House don't want their votes recorded or reported publicly!
Nikki has pissed off the old boys, non-transparent SC gov’t operations.
Yes, and she was behind the effort to require them to vote on the record. I believe she said that 99% of Senate votes were by voice and 92% of Assembly votes. This means that the legislatures, for the most part, never had to go on the record INDIVIDUALLY on a topic — sort of like Obama voting Present.
Take the ad, let someone else sponsor it, and put it right back up.
Are there current poll numbers? I seen so little in the news regarding this race.
“Judge Orders SC Political Ads Off Air”
Ilegitimus judicus. He’s prohibiting free speech. Unconstitutional.
I think one poll has her at 30%—the Palin endorsement was golden. Now we’re beginning to see more of Barrett’s true colors.
Good grief, Charlie Brown, where's the editor? They need to have the Apostrophe Protection Society sicced onto them.
WTF? Free speech anyone?
How can this be? You mean to tell me that I don’t have the right to know how my legislator voted? This is just unreal!
That's exactly what Mark Critz's surrogates did leading up to the special election for Murtha's seat.
He got caught in a lie trying to say that Tim Burns supported a 23% sales tax on everything, had to apoligize, then had his lackeys in AFSCME put out virtually the same ad under their lying sponsorship.
Prohibiting political speech is highly, highly unusual. Likely a violation of the 1st amendment.
What if your contribution to support a conservative candidate was being used to support a liberal, like say, Meg Whitman or Barbara Boxer? Would you be happy about it?
bttt
Found an article on this. 30%, yes. Very exciting.

Any contribution to the national GOP IS going to Liberals.
“What if your contribution to support a conservative candidate was being used to support a liberal, like say, Meg Whitman or Barbara Boxer?”
Is that what’s happening?
Seems like a “buyer beware” issue.
One should always scrutinize the organizations that they give money to.

One should give straight to candidates and then you don’t have to worry where the money is going. Club for Growth is the only group I donate to outside of direct to candidates now.
How can a judge “order” somebody to remove TV ads?
It is unlikely that any candidate will get to 50%, so there will be a run-off between the top two finishers. If that poll is correct, it looks like Haley will be one of them.
I keep waiting for someone to have the stones to say to one of these bench sitting Bolsheviks: “With all due respect, f*** you your honor” and then, like Jackson and the Supreme Court, keep doing what they’re doing and let them try to enforce their decisions. Sooner or later ignoring and defying unconstitutional decisions and orders (i.e. civil disobedience in the highest tradition) is the only way forward. Well, there are other ways but I don’t wish to be banned by the moderators today.
I understand your point and agree with the overall premise. But the funny thing is, it can work either way. A religious education and upbringing can (did) create both a John Paul II and a Josef Stalin. Likewise, an indoctrination at the hands of a public school may tend to move a kid away from the parents’ point of view, but I think a home environment where the parents can actively explain their beliefs to their children will have a bigger and longer term impact. The hand that rocks the cradle still rules the world.
Words to live by Katana, words to live by.
This is a family site so let me just say “%#@& Gresham Barrett.”
In an e-mail to WYFF, ReformSC Chairman Pat McKinney said," The ReformSC ads are completely legal. We will prove that in court, if necessary. And we will have the ads back up on the air. The fact that Gresham Barrett is willing to go to court to stop the transparency and accountability that will come when legislators have to vote on the record tells you all you need to know about the kind of governor he would be."
Briefly,
A new Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Likely Republican Primary voters shows Haley earning 30% support. Shes followed by State Attorney General Henry McMaster who picks up 19% and Congressman Gresham Barrett with 17%. Lieutenant Governor Andre Bauer captures 12% of the vote.Details here.Three percent (3%) prefer some other candidate in the race, but nearly one-in-five potential primary voters (18%) remain undecided.
We’re all united about one thing here - we don’t like the Communist takeover of our government and want to do something about it besides complain.
Just in case people don't know, Barrett supported the stimulus package and got booed at the Greenville Tea Party:
Run it in Charlotte and Savannah.

I heard he broke down and cried during a conference call over the news. Apparently he cries a lot. No lie. What a girl is Barrett. These good ole' boys are something else.
