The Obama administration has urged a court to reject an attempt to block a controversial new law overhauling the U.S. healthcare system, saying it was constitutional and any challenge was premature.

A conservative public interest group, the Thomas More Law Center, had filed a lawsuit in Michigan on March 23, the day Obama signed the law, and asked the court for an injunction to block it from taking effect.

Health Reform Threatens to Cram Already Overwhelmed Emergency Rooms

The new healthcare law will pack 32 million newly insured people into emergency rooms that are already crammed beyond capacity, according to experts. The idea was that if people have insurance, they will go to a doctor rather than putting off care until they faced an emergency. People who build hospitals, however, say newly insured people will still go to emergency rooms for primary care because they don't have a doctor.

(CNSNews.com) – White House health care czar Nancy-Anne Deparle repeated the claim that the health care reform law signed by President Obama will result in lower health care costs despite a well-known government report to the contrary.

Deparle, speaking to the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) in Washington on Monday, said that the new health care reform would make health care more affordable by lowering premiums and reducing costs.

Even without a deficit crisis, France is running out of money to pay for its generous social programs.

95% of French anesthestists are striking today to demand a raise. Several thousands held a particularly annoying protest on the tracks of a major Parisian train station, which blocked trains for hours, according to Le Monde.

As the austerity bug hits France, paying for the world's best health care system will be a major challenge. The country has tried for decades to reduce health care pay and benefits, and only succeeded in stirring up public outrage.

IRS pitches tax credit for health insurance

WASHINGTON — Pitching President Barack Obama's health care law to skeptical business owners, the IRS on Monday will announce ground rules for small firms wishing to claim a new federal tax credit for health insurance. Created under the health overhaul law, the tax credit covers up to 35 percent of the premiums that certain small businesses pay on behalf of their workers. The IRS notice addresses unanswered questions about the benefit, which is available starting this year. The agency's action comes days after the nation's largest small business lobbying group announced it was joining a lawsuit challenging the health care law. The National Federation of Independent Business argues that Congress overstepped its constitutional authority by imposing a requirement that most Americans obtain health insurance either through an employer, a government program or buying it directly.

Health Overhaul Hits Sales Commissions

Among the first to feel the effects of the nation’s health-care system overhaul are insurance salespeople, whose commissions for selling policies are themselves getting overhauled.

The new law requires that insurers use at least 80% of the premiums to pay for medical care for patients rather than administrative costs and profit-taking. But many companies that sell health insurance to individuals and small businesses maintain a lower “medical loss ratio” because they use more of the premium to cover administrative expenses, including sales commissions.

To Sell Plan, White House Officials Focus On Four Key Aspects Of Health Reform

White House officials eager to sell the most popular aspects of the health reform law are focusing on four areas to gain votes and popularity for key lawmakers ahead of November's midterm elections.

Politico: "Top administration officials, who meet regularly with outside special interest groups to coordinate the public relations effort, have so far focused on expediting and amplifying four key areas of the new law: expanding coverage to young adults, covering sick people with pre-existing conditions or high medical costs, providing tax breaks to small businesses and helping a select group of seniors pay for prescription drugs." Politico reports that in the case of expanding coverage to young adults, the administration cut short the time period when the public is allowed to weigh in on the debate. "In another, it used taxpayer money to alert small businesses that they will get a break on this year's taxes. Both are perfectly legal but also politically beneficial." Officials, however, say there is no correlation between its push and the congressional elections.

Health Care in a Free Society

The following is adapted from a speech delivered on January 13, 2010, in Washington, D.C., at an event sponsored by Hillsdale College's Allan P. Kirby, Jr. Center for Constitutional Studies and Citizenship.

SOMEONE once said that before there was the New Deal, there was the Wisconsin Deal. In my home state, the University of Wisconsin was an early hotbed of progressivism, whose goal was to reorder society along lines other than those of the Constitution. The best known Wisconsin progressive in American politics was Robert LaFollette. “Fighting Bob,” as he was called, was a Republican—as was Theodore Roosevelt, another early progressive. Today we tend to associate progressivism mostly with Democrats, and trace it back to Woodrow Wilson. But it had its roots in both parties.

Forget about keeping your doctor and your plan under ObamaCare

Barack Obama promised that people who currently have health insurance would not have any changes to their status forced onto them by ObamaCare. “If you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor,” Obama repeatedly promised, adding that the hundreds of millions of Americans currently insured would not have to change plans, either. Dr. Scott Gottlieb explains in a Wall Street Journal essay exactly how wrong Obama and the Democrats were in making that promise, and describes the “defensive business arrangements” that will eliminate many provider choices for consumers:

President Obama guaranteed Americans that after health reform became law they could keep their insurance plans and their doctors. It’s clear that this promise cannot be kept. Insurers and physicians are already reshaping their businesses as a result of Mr. Obama’s plan.

The reasons to defund and repeal Obamacare continuing to pile up as more and more facts are revealed by those willing to spend the time necessary to dig through the over 2000 page law.

Now we learn that Obama lied to America about the Public Option (government-run health Insurance companies) being dropped from ObamaCare. It was NOT dropped. It is STILL in the law -- only hidden. Look for yourself. Look in Section 1334, pages 97-100, of the new health care law. If you feel as if you have been screwed –that’s because you have!

Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- New polls show Americans have not come around to support the pro-abortion health care law President Barack Obama signed. With the mid-term Congressional elections looming on the horizon, White House officials are putting together a concerted effort to boost support for it before voters head to the polls.

Yesterday, the latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey showed 56% favor repeal of the law, while 39% are opposed.
