Day without Mexicans planned
San Antonio Express News ^ | 13 May 2010 | Miguel Timoshenkov

Posted on 05/17/2010 4:39:13 AM PDT by Racehorse

As a protest against Arizona’s controversial immigration law, the chambers of commerce from Nuevo Laredo to Matamoros have agreed to set May 25 as a “Day Without Mexicans” on the South Texas border. Business leaders are calling on all Mexican nationals to avoid crossing the international bridges into the United States for any reason, but particularly for shopping, on that day.

“Our action will be united and preventive,” said Emilio Girón Fernández de Jáuregui, president of the Nuevo Laredo Chamber of Commerce.

As have many Mexican officials, Girón Fernández de Jáuregui criticized Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer for criminalizing the lack of documents when “historically, Mexican nationals have left their money in border cities.”

He added that business owners and merchants traditionally have rejected and protested measures that violate human rights. Contrary to earlier reports, there are no plans to block the international bridges as part of the May 25 protest, Girón Fernández de Jáuregui said.

The decision to ask Mexican citizens to avoid traveling to the United States on May 25 was the result of a conference called by the national Chambers of Commerce earlier this week. Chamber officials from each of the cities along the Texas-Mexico border agreed to the plan and will develop their own ways of calling for the boycott.

“It will be a grand moment of solidarity among border Mexicans,” Girón Fernández de Jáuregui said.

Try a day without Mexican drug cartels, gangs and other crimincals causing violence. That would be more accurate of the Arizona law and basically what we are actually trying to prevent.

Anything else is mindless, racist liberal fluff.

I’m sure the folks in Arizona when they get this news, will nervously look at the sands in their hour glass, and RUSH to undo what they’ve done. I think I will plan my border crossing to the USA on May 26th in total spite.

I pulled this post from my response on another thread. It will tell you about the last “Day without Mexicans” which was in San Diego. LOL

“my uber-lib friend in San Diego called me after the huge amnesty rallies (the ones where they were carrying Mexican and other nation’s flags). I think it was in May of 2006. They had a boycott, also.

That same left-wing Jewish friend was in heaven. He could hardly contain himself. He said “It was awesome! I wasn’t stuck behind 1977 cars belching smoke. I whizzed through the drive-thru at lighting speed, since the people spoke English. I had to pick up some electrical tape and I went into Home Depot. No day laborers and English speaking help! Totally awesome. I saved ten bucks in gas with less traffic on the freeway!”

I don’t have a problem with Mexicans or anyone else as long as they are here legally and obeying our laws. It’s the other 10 million that are here illegally that need to go away.

Good!

Now they'll know exactly which ones to fire and replace with Americans.

yes, and while we’re at it, the rest of the century would be fine.
however, they’ve got their claws into the cash cow that is the
united states, and they plan to clean us out, aided and abetted
by our very own leaders. it sucks.

Are we allowed to : 1) remove illegals from hospitals where they are being treated, 2)ask illegals not to come to school, 3)ask illegals not to use any welfare services, 4) make imprisoned illegals clean the highways, etc. All these protests are silly and counterproductive. The sad fact is that illegal immigration cost much more than America gains EXCEPT FOR THE CORRUPT BUSINNESSES WHO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THEM AND THE POLITICIANS WHO WANT THE LATINO VOTE. THE AVERAGE LATINO IS WORKED INTO A LATHER BY THESE SPECIAL INTERESTS.

Only one day? Pikers.

You're right, if they are to have any effect it needs to be a Year Without Mexicans, or maybe Don't Come Back Until The Law Is Over Turned By The Supreme Court. That will show the Gringos!

Why only a day? Wouldn’t a decade without Mexicans make the point more forcefully?
