Despite heroic efforts on the part of NEWSWEEK's management and staff, we expect it to still lose money in 2010. Martyrdom is not heroism.

I predict Newsweek will become a quarterly and be banished to the grocery store check out isle, more or less like the periodic Life Magazine appearances.
To: quesney
I’ll buy that!
For a dollar.

Who would buy it? Seriously.
Maybe the same people who would invest in a slide-rule manufacturing company?
I wish I could buy it so I could personally fire every writer/editor. That would be fun.

Remember when Newsweak's "chief investigative reporter" Michael Isadumkopf reported that a Koran had been flushed down a toilet by an American at Guatanamo Bay? This story triggered wide-spread rioting and anti-American protests throughout the world.
It was later proved to be only an allegation and Newsweak was forced to print a retraction.
Also, remember the sexist photo of Sarah Palin published on a Newsweak cover? The bias was so lame and obvious that even liberals were embarrassed.
Before leftists took over this rag, it ranked only behind Time magazine as an important news journal. However, leftists are like locusts when they take something over.....they leave only ravaged ruination and shreds of destruction in all they touch before they are forced to leave or sell out what they have despoiled.
Good riddance to bad rubbish. Now it appears that the likes of Michael Isikoff and Eleanor Clift may have to look for new print outlets on which to impose their liberal literary fungus.

The next to fall will be People, US and assorted papparrazi pubs about retarded celebrities.

It'd be fun to put an ad on Craigslist for journalism job, and then receive resumes from Evan Thomas, Eleanor Clift, Jonathon Alter etc.
Arrange for an interview. Toy with them. Then let them know they've been punked by a Freeper, while laughing maniacally.

This should be a template to also kill TV. Cancel cable and sat TV.

Just one year ago they made a big deal about their Spinal Tap-style downsizing of the magazine and refocusing it to a “select market” of hyperpartisan liberals.
But what are they selling other than the copyright to the name of the magazine?
To: Frantzie
Newsweek devalued the only asset they had — the name. They’ll get more than $1, but not much more. They should have sold it before the retooling.
