U.S. has no evidence on N. Korea's involvement

WASHINGTON, The United States Friday said it has no evidence that North Korea is involved in the tragic sinking earlier in the day of a South Korean warship in waters near the sea border with the North.

"Let's not jump to conclusions here," State Department spokesman Philip Crowley said, responding to a question about any North Korean involvement. "I'm not aware of any evidence to that effect. But I think the authoritative source here would be the South Korean government."

An explosion rocked the South Korean naval ship with 104 seamen aboard, creating a large hole in the hull below the waterline, according to South Korean authorities.

Scores are reportedly missing, and the South Korean military is still trying to find out what caused the explosion on the maritime border in the Yellow Sea, the scene of bloody naval skirmishes on three occasions in 1999, 2002 and 2009.

"We are quite aware of what's happening, and obviously we share concerns for the welfare of the crew of that ship," Crowley said. "I think I would defer to the South Korean government for details; but obviously, (this is) something that we are monitoring closely and will be hearing from them as further developments and perspective are available."

The Hussein Asylum doesn’t want to admit it was a muzzie attack.

Don’t know, but a fair guess.

This guys sounds like the US has no intelligence independent of the SKorea govt?

Dayum, I hope that's not true. We normally have forces in the region...subs, ships and aircraft. If we didn't KNOW a NORK boat was on patrol in the area, we need some more assets. Or, some butt-kicking.

Get your priorities straight!

The Joos are building apartments in Jerusalem, a city which they built and have occupied for 5,000 years.

I half expected them to blame Israel for this too. If the North really did it, then nothing to see here—move on.

This “let’s not jump to conclusions” statement confirms that NK sunk that SK ship.

Obviously, given that our hands are tied now, that we cannot call terrorists terrorists and that it would support Palin, it’s open season for terrorists and appoligies to enemies for attacks on US soil.

Any time there is a possibility in the US of a terrorist attack the FBI always has the standard line of saying “there is no connection to terrorism.”

Now the State Department has the standard line, “let’s not jump to any conclusions.”

"The Joos are building apartments in Jerusalem, a city which they built and have occupied for 5,000 years."

Actually Jerusalem was there even before the Jews. PreJewish Jerusalem was called "Salem" in the bible.

Some leadership that our friends could rely on would be refreshing too. The jackals are watching this one closely, I suspect.

I have strong doubts that the Norks were behind this one. And I watch them pretty closely.

I bet it was those tea party protesters that did it! Blowing up Korean boats crosses the line, time to crack down.
