Academic physicians (those who work for a university) don’t understand the system very well. They get paid mostly not to see patients, but to teach and do research. They get paid a salary and have only a few clinics a week. They live in an ivory tower as professors do. Those physicians on the front lines i.e. private practitioners who solely make their living seeing patients hate this bill because the free market will die and the value of the visit won’t sustain their practices. This is how universal healthcare will cause shortages. Every physician will end up working for some large institution and do as little as possible....

Your characterization of university medical centers is complete baloney. I guess this is what you’ve picked up from watching TV medical shows written by liberals. All of the university physicians I know having been freaking out the past year.
