You’re telling me that the swimming, diving, wrestling, skiing, and hockey programs in colleges are as intense and exhausting as the football program?
Really? Skiing?
So you think football will be more “intense and exhausting” with a playoff system than without? A playoff changes nothing except giving small conference schools a shot at some of the money the big conference schools want to keep for themselves.
Well, of course. The playoffs will extend the season considerably. If you have 64 teams in the playoffs, that is another 6 weeks added onto the end of the season.
64! LOL, people have been trying to get just 3 or 4 teams in a playoff.
A four team playoff would not be too much of a burden, but how does that alleviate the problem we have now? It still going to be arbitrary and exclude a lot of teams that could very well argue they deserve a shot at the national championship, if there is to be such a thing.
You won’t have undefeated teams left out of the title game. That is the biggest complaint right now.
Boise state could have easily slipped to #5 in last year’s rankings.
In 2008, Utah was undefeated and finished #6 in the BCS.
Boise State was also undefeated and finished #9 in the BCS.
