Police: Man arrested for punching 3-month-old son

Authorities say a Volusia County man was arrested for punching his 3-month-old son in the stomach twice and then slapping him across the mouth. Investigators say the baby was hospitalized with five fractured ribs.

John Waters, the baby's father, was in jail Tuesday and is charged with aggravated child battery.

Authorities say Waters, his girlfriend and the baby, were at their Holly Hill home sleeping on their bed on Monday, when the baby started crying. Officials say Waters told detectives he rolled over and punched the infant twice on the stomach with a closed fist. Authorities say that later he picked up the child to give him his bottle and slapped him across the mouth because he still would not stop crying.

It was not immediately known if he had an attorney.

Local6.com, an Orlando TV affiliate, had a commenter make the following post:

“this is yet ANOTHER reason why people should NOT have kids
and also why abortions are very important then ever. for all you
pro-lifers out there use your brain for 30-seconds BEFORE you
decide to have UN-protectected sex.OR have the TV repaired!”

He’s clearly a genius. If you kill the baby, there’s no risk s/he will be abused. Poor kid. His dad is a psychopath, and his mom chose to procreate with him. Hopefully she has a good family support system.

Well I think it would be a great idea & then what is left you can deal with. I didn't say a regular pit bull either so not to offend....I said rabid lol. Prayers for the baby. If the mother has such poor judgment maybe a family member can step in & take this child until she gets some sense. I am sure this jerk has shown his behavior before.
