The folly of Palin's high-priced 'populism' (vanden Heuvel)
Washington Post ^ | February 9, 2010 | Katrina vanden Heuvel

Posted on 02/09/2010 9:41:50 AM PST by maggief

EXCERPT

Democrats should also give Republicans plenty of room to do themselves in. By openly declaring themselves for sale to Wall Street, Republicans are displaying the kind of crony capitalism that drives Americans to form Tea Parties.

Ironically, this doesn't seem to bother Sarah Palin. Faced with a choice between subsidizing the banks and poor kids, she went with the banks, warning the Tea Party activists that the Obama administration is "taking over" everything, including "health care, student loans." With views like that, she won't have any trouble getting speaking gigs at $100,000 a shot.

(The writer is editor of the Nation and will be writing a weekly column for The Post.)

Compared to what? The amounts Wall Street has donated to Dems? Democrat Hank Paulsen's TARP bait-and-switch? Tax cheat Timmy?

The writer sounds just like a direct offspring of Hitler or Stalin as the left wing is always kneeling to their Gods Hitler and Stalin as they kiss their BU##s.

Democrats are such idiots...have they missed the fact that it was their savior, Obama who is taking tax money and giving it to banks and wall street?

But one can thank them for admitting that it's cronyism that they are partaking in.

Are they mad because the speaking fee is too high, or because it’s higher than they can charge?

Ah, another demented lib that thinks that support of theft from one group of people to give to another

equates to “charity” on her own part.

Projection, accusing the GOP (who aren’t exactly clean here) of what the donks (who are bottom-of-the-sewer filthy) are doing...

The great community organizer Saul Alinsky talked about organized people vs. organized money. We are seeing the mugging of the common good everyday.

We can talk about the need for deep reform of the Senate, abolishing the filibuster.

I enjoy watching Palin-envy force venom out of the vipers. Especially the female ones. Katrina is just too cute for words, and so smart....bless her heart.

If Sarah started giving speeches for $95,000 the same jackals would be screeching that she’s lost her mojo and had to lower her speaking fee.

Let me see if I understand this caterwauling leftist and her ilk:

1. The GOP is evil because they are Wall Street sell outs

2. Sarah Palin is evil because she is a populists, as opposed to being a Wall Street sell out.

OK, I give up. Liberalism IS a mental disorder.

This is the most amazingly stupid statement I've read in a whole flood of foolish slams against Palin. Governor Palin opposes TARP, while Obama/Pelosi/RINO-McCain support it. Last time I checked, giving huge amounts of our tax dollars to Wall Street: Citigroup — $25 billion; Wells Fargo — $25 billion; Bank of America — $15 billion; Goldman Sachs — $10 billion; Merrill Lynch — $10 billion; Morgan Stanley — $10 billion; ... etc. would be considered "for sale to Wall Street". This exceptionally stupid writer is blaming Palin for one of Obama/Pelosi/Reid/McCain's biggest mistakes, and it's one that she opposes.

I think Americans are more concerned about how much tax money is being “donated” by the Federal government to selective benevolence. Bailing out car companies and public unions is cronyism. Selecting which companies are too big to fail does not reward excellence.

But what does the government do that could be considered excellence, let alone mediocre? ONE THING?

BTW, has the *itch learned to open her mouth yet or is she still suffering from pseudo-intellectual lockjaw?

At 100,000 a speech, Sarah is being royally ripped off. Algore got 50 million each from 4 different big business whores for making speeches ;-)

The WA Post has gone over the edge giving a weekly column to this Marxist. She is probably the most of left wing “journalists” in the media. She will readily admit to her Socialist preferences. In her mind, Obama is a Conservative.
