A judge sentenced 26-year-old Dominique Brice on Wednesday. A jury found Brice guilty last month of vehicular manslaughter.
Authorities say Brice was speeding and weaving through traffic in February 2008 when she hit[off-duty North Miami police officer] Fritz Doucet and Raul Ortiz. They were recently reunited high school friends going to Bike Week in Daytona Beach.

Here is From her guilty verdict which reveals more details of this story.
There is a person of the same name on Facebook, seemingly of the same age, with friends mostly in Miami, Florida, pictured in an automobile, but I can't write it's definitely the killer's picture, so I can't link to a photo.
INDIAN RIVER COUNTY The Florida Highway Patrol is still investigating an Interstate 95 accident that killed two motorcyclists Friday.
There is more info here:
Fritz Doucet, 37, of North Miami and Raul Ortiz, 38, were parked on the right shoulder of the northbound lanes of I-95 when a Saturn crashed into them, FHP said. Rescue crews pronounced both dead at the scene, which was a few miles north of Indrio Road.
The driver of the Saturn, Dominque Louise Brice, 24, of Miami was treated for minor injuries at Indian River Medical Center, FHP said. Before the crash, other motorists had called 911 to report a Saturn driving erratically, FHP said. Investigators said the Saturn was driving in the inside lane of I-95 before veering sharply to the right and crashing into the motorcyclists.
Too bad for her it was an off duty cop. Otherwise she would have only gotten a failure to yield ticket.

Should have been life.
100%
Photos of the perp....Not an accident in my book
I have had a fear of riding on a motorcycle since my early 20’s because of a close call. I never worried about the driver of the bike, always of the idiots in cars.

Technically if an officer cannot be identified as such, assaults and such upon him or her cannot be punished worse because he or she was an officer. However this ignores the political realities.
I don’t see in the linked article where it says she was drunk.
There are a lot of idiot drivers out there. I hate it when car drivers do a rolling stop at a controlled intersection. You have no idea if they’ll go or not.Right of way means crap when someone pulls out in front of or into you.
Does anyone know if there is a Freerepublic motorcycle group or ping? I don’t really remember seeing one.
I have fog lights and blinking high beams on my ride, and so far that has sufficed to warn off inattentive side traffic. The riding classes done by the MSF tell you to always yield to anything heavier, but taken literally this is of course infeasible in heavy traffic.
I drove up hwy 99 in Ca. yesterday and I saw about 4 cars that were driving recklessly, they could have ended in fatalities. People need to slow down not drive like @$$holes. especially in high traffic. I saw one accident although I don’t know how it happened, I’m sure it was due to carelessness since it happened in the late morning. I also some guy burning rubber in a mall with many people walking through the parking lot. Crazy people, they won’t stop until someone gets hurt.
Well, Motorcyclists should police thier own ranks. How many times do you see some future organ donor shoot down the shoulder of the road to advoid traffic or they blow pass you at 110 plus between cars on the interstate.
I admit there are bad car drivers, but a lot of motorcycle drivers seem to think they own the road or they are bullett proof.
Yes. Stay safe, many people just don’t care about the safety of others.
Incurable stupid should be rewarded with life imprisonment. :P
While riding my motorcycle, I saw a motorcyclist getting taken away in an ambulance after colliding into a trophy-wife in an SUV who failed to obey a blinking yellow and pulled into right into his path on a 50MPH highway. I don't know if he even lived.
Noted, but the thread went off track long before we noted the obvious.
You are absolutely right Sam.
I stand corrected.
Sorry...it is a shame these guys died at the hands of a goofy broad. She should be doing hard time, like breaking gravel or chopping down trees.
Too many people are driving HUA{Head Up Ass}
What would lesd you to that conclusion?
She was speeding and driving recklessly. Thus it was not an accident. 90% can be chalked up to her moronic behavior. The other 10%.....call that part accidental if you want
Read the article because that’s why they are throwing the book at her
I read your first post as implying she actually, as distinguished from inferred, intended to hit the victims. I thought that you may have arrived at that conclusion because one victim was a policeman. BTW I did read the entire report.
Looks like we have another signup for the Hooligan ping list.
Donorcycles.
BTW I did read the entire report.....
OK sorry about that. In a sense she did intend to hit the policemen. She was going to cause some kind of collision the way she was driving. Hitting the two policeman is 90% her fault and 10% something else
A real accident would have been a responsible driver ploughing into the policemen due to sudden glare from the sun or being sideswiped by another driver. But in this case the driver was a complete dolt and two men are dead because of it/
Actually I blame the cops a bit.... bad idea to pull to the side of the road and pull out maps right next to traffic whizzing by at highway speeds. Too many idiots out there
I am fully aware of the legal concept that gross negligence or total reckless behavior may supply the requisite element of intent in criminal cases, but your language seemed to suggest she was actually intended to inflict harm. Take a look at your original post and ask yourself whether or not that was an unreasonable interpretation.
No problem. I don’t know the particulars of the case but it does appear that she was nonetheless driving recklessly and endangering other life.
A complexly reasonable interpretation by you
My main point is too many collisions and wrecks are called accidents with the implication being there is little to none personal responsibility.
In traffic "accidents" there is usually blame to go around but due to the popular concept of being "non judgmental" we shy way from doing it
Still, in court blame is often assigned on a percentage case in lawsuits and other cases
Depending on the jurisdiction maybe so in civil cases, but in criminal cases different standards apply.
