Did Obama really stop an ongoing military tribunal of Khalid Sheikh Mohammed?

He certainly did. Holder said he decided to bring Mohammed and the other four before a civilian court rather than a military commission because of the nature of the undisclosed evidence against them, because the 9/11 victims were mostly civilians and because the attacks took place on U.S. soil.

All due respect—we haven’t had people come from all over the world for our entire history, or anywhere close to it—it’s only since the mid 1960s that appreciable numbers of non-Europeans have come here. We were essentially 90% “white” and 10% “black” as recently as 1960.

There were no Muslims or Buddhists anmong the Founding Fathers, or in any pivotal role in our country’s history up to the present time. Were there Chinese here 100 years ago? Yes, some, but not many percentagewise, and 95% of those were confined to one or two states.

Moreover, as blacks have complained about, and still do, almost all important private and public decision-making positions have been filled by whites-mostly white men.

I agree there has been “diversity” among the many disparate nations making up Europe for many years now—starting in the late 1800s. Even so-for the first 100 years, the U.S. white population was pretty much confined to those who came from only a few of those countries.
