Received this in my inbox tonight...
Dear Friends,
The Congress is continuing its work to try to get healthcare reform legislation, and I believe the prospects are reasonably good that we will produce a bill. I hope that the bill will have the public option - and a robust public option. We will have a cloture vote tonight and I believe that we should be able to get 60 Senators at least to agree to start the debate.

It would be my hope that my colleagues would not draw lines in the sand or stay in inflexible positions. We need to move ahead, and doing nothing is not an option. The problems of so many millions of Americans uninsured and the problems of the rising healthcare costs makes it imperative that action be taken.
I think that the bill which has been proposed is a very, very good start. It is obviously subject to amendments and some modification. But the total cost has come in at about $850 billion over 10 years and is projected to save about $130 billion to reduce the deficit. In the second decade it is projected to save even more, up to as much as $650 billion. President Obama has committed not to sign a healthcare bill which adds to the deficit, and Im committed not to vote for a healthcare bill that adds to the deficit.
It is my hope that the bill will emerge with very strong provisions on preventative care. That includes annual examinations without additional costs and encouraging people to have the annual exams to catch many problems at their early stages, like heart disease or ailments, before they develop into debilitating and expensive chronic diseases. I disagree with the recent recommendations to cut back on mammogram screenings or pap smears. I think that early detection is vital and well worth the cost. I can tell you from my personal experience: an MRI detected a brain tumor the size of a golf ball between my skull and my brain back in 1993. It could have been a very, very serious matter had that early detection not occurred.
Healthcare reform is vital and were determined to get a good bill.
Sincerely,
Arlen Specter
Someone with less self control might pop off with something like...
"You g*dd*mn traitorous b*st*rd..."
"M*th*rf*ck*r, if I lose the great health plan that I have now, I swear to God, I WILL MAKE YOU CRY."
"You just made it MY MISSION IN LIFE to make you the most miserable son-of-a-b*tch in this state."
Luckily for him, I have more self control, and I haven't been diagnosed with a terminal disease. If I should ever reach the point where I have nothing to lose, who knows; there's a little mental list in my head that might grab my attention -- and make me re-evaluate the value of self-control.
Amen! Do ya have a clue as how to post a photo on FReep?
Uhhhhh....Arlene....I hate to sound like a broken record but you forgot to mention that this bill still leaves 16 million Americans uncovered.
Sounds like Arlen doesn’t have a problem with our communist government taking over one sixth of OUR economy. These commie pigs are despicable.
L M A O !!
Dear NNNNNNN,
Moments ago, the Senate voted to begin its full debate on historic health care reform legislation instead of obstructing it with a filibuster.
Tonights vote marks the biggest victory to date for our grassroots effort to pass health care reform with a public option. We cannot give enough thanks to the over 100,000 signers of our petition at CitizensForAPublicOption.com for helping to fundamentally shift the momentum towards meaningful reform.
Not long ago, a few loud opponents of reform armed and organized by the insurance industry dominated this debate. Now the American people, the majority of whom support a public option, have spoken out and gained the upper hand.
Not long ago, the public option seemed like little more than a pipe dream. Now its part of health care bills in both the Senate and the House.
Not long ago, members of our own Democratic caucus werent sure they could even support an up-or-down vote on health care reform legislation. Tonight they voted to end the Republican filibuster.
But despite this good news, the fight for meaningful health care reform is not over. As we debate amendments to this legislation in the coming weeks, we will work with our colleagues to ensure it continues to address the Three Cs of meaningful reform: competition, choice, and cost reduction. And we will firmly oppose any effort to eliminate the public option.
Tonight we celebrate a milestone no one thought we could reach just months ago. Tomorrow the fight continues. We will not let up until the President signs a bill we can all be proud of.
Thank you for your support.
Sincerely,
Senator Dick Durbin Senator Patrick Leahy Senator Chuck Schumer
Someone must have pics of Specter in a compromising position with a donkey. Either that, or he’s suffering a severe case of brain rot. Either way, he’s a silly son of a seabiscuit who should retire.
Thank heavens you have a firm grip on your temper....:)
[my “comment” contains only 3 words but I can’t post it here]
My mother got one from Dick Durbin congratulating the 100,000 signers of a pro social medicine petition.
More than a million people actually go to DC to protest the abomination and he manages to ignore them. He get’s 100,000 names that may or may not be real on a internet petition and he treats them like a majority.
Arlen Specter is another stinking pile of human refuse that illustrates what a rubbish pile our congress has become and how he helped it get there.
Whatever treatment he recieved for that condition did't work. What an asshole.
Yeah? Well, it is MY hope that hundred dollar bills will fly out my butt every time I boof.
But THAT ain't gonna happen either.
At what point do we realize that we have arrived to where the exercise of the 2nd Amendment our founders were wise enough to put in the Constitution becomes necessary? Right after that right is taken away?
Then we say “oh crap”????
Mr Sphincter knows that the Grim (Political) Reaper is approaching his front door and will either arrive next Spring or next November so,I’m sure,he figures...”hey,just one last vote to tell the people of PA (and America)...bleep you.”
Term limits are far past due to eliminate these career politicians.....
Hey Arlen, if this health care bill had passed in 1993 ( and you were a normal citizen, not a government leech with their own health care plan ), you would have been put on a waiting list for the MRI ( if approved ) and it may not have been caught in time
At least he is no longer pretending to be a Republican and deserting us when we need him.
He will get all the chemo he needs to keep his lymphoma in check. You republican or conservative sympathizers, you get the pain pill. DIE QUICKLY!
Well, I do not intend to die, to spite you f ing you-know-whats.
I INTEND TO FIGHT YOU TO THE DEATH. I DECLARE WAR!
I got the same email! I never subscribed to anything that this ass clown puts out - ever! Not when he claimed to be a republican or democrat. Wonder how he got my email address?
I replied that I don’t want him to EVER email anything to me again and I sincerely hope he loses the next election and goes kicking and screaming into a rather unpleasant retirement.
I won’t “unsubscribe” to something I never subscribed to.
What a freakin’ jerk!
Arlen Spector has always been a Democrat. He just switched to the Rhino Party when it was politically expedient and then switched back to the Palin Democrat’s when it was no longer in his interest to pretend to be a Repub.
Yeah? Good for you, Sen. Sphincter.
But you know damn well that if Obamacare passes, FEWER people will get MRIs and they will be MORE expensive.
So help me...
Yep. No surrender, ever.
Bite.
Me.
I’ve never seen people giddier at the prospect of destroying a nation. I hope that they live long enough to see and understand the damage they have done...

I can't write what I want to stick in his head.
In my best spanglish, YO TAMBIEN sphincter mofo!!!
Let me guess. Does it start with the letters F, Y, A ?

A FEW? How about a million? Speaking of armed reform, does this traitor get it?
I got the same email, I have never in my life corresponded with him, so why in the world would we get an email from Specter????
INTERESTING, are you thinking what I am thinking?? That we ARE BEING MONITORED by THEM, when we are on the internet??? How else did they get all of our emails????
You wouldn’t happen to be any relation to windflier, would you?

Not as far as I know :^)
Got the same email. I sent him one back and told him to go screw himself and his ROBUST public option, and all his treasonous commie liberal buddies can do the same...also that he is a disgrace to this country.
Fit to be tied.
Wow, and back in ‘93, that would have been under our current system! Imagine that.
I think there are certain forms of brain damage that can't be reversed. We see this every day.
Mmmmm......nope...:)
