Sound of Silence During Obama Veterans Day Speech at Arlington Cemetery

Barack Obama's speech commemorating Veterans Day at Arlinton Cemetery this morning was received with stony silence by those in attendance.

What should have been applause lines for Obama about caring for our veterans drew no cheers, no clapping and no 'hooahs'.

There was no Prince-concert-squealing for Obama like there was yesterday at the Fort Hood memorial service. In fact there was no cheering at all for the commander-in-chief in a time of war. Just polite, subdued applause when Obama was introduced and when he conluded his speech.

In contrast, a randomly selected Veterans Day speech by President George W. Bush shows numerous interruptions for applause.

A transcript of Bush's 2004 speech includes notations of eight interruptions for applause before the final notation of applause at the conclusion of his speech.

I noticed that Obama used no hand gestures when he spoke, except when he took his left hand and touched his right ear when he spoke about Brigadere General Karl Horst. I found that odd that he used only one hand gesture and that it was at the mentioning of a name; also that it was quite awkward to cross his body with the other hand. My take on it after watching most of the speech is that Obama did not show a SINGLE BIT of feeling. There was no real emotion in his voice. The speech writer wrote the usual stuff about solemn occasion, our heroic dead, and so forth, but Obama was TOTALLY WITHOUT FEELING while reading it.

He sounds like a complete liar if you just listen and don't watch --you tell by the inflection in his voice

We respect your opinion very much, so I wonder if you could offer a theory on why some soldiers, like those local folks at the ceremony today, receive Obama with the coldness he deserves, while others treat him like a rap star. Who are the idiots? They aren’t just minorities, I can see that from crowd shots.

I am fighting off pneumonia so I haven’t really been too with it for a couple of days. But when I came to after finally sleeping for a couple of hours, the first thing to meet my eyes was video of bam placing the wreath at Arlington. It made me sick all over again.
He could not have looked more nonchalant as if he was doing it in disgust and only because he had to. He stiff armed the wreath as if he did not even want to touch it.
The people in attendance were as stoney faced a group as I have ever seen. It was barely controlled contempt for this man. It was visible on the faces of literally everyone in the panned shot.
One of the perks from being sick is that I have not seen either his speech at Ft. Hood or the one today. I will watch when my stomach can take it.
GOD bless our Miltary and I hope they know we are devoted to them and their families wherever they are.
