In his eagerness to please international opinion, President Obama has taken a small but significant step toward censoring free speech.It was nice to hear Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton say on October 26, "I strongly disagree" with Islamic countries seeking to censor free speech worldwide by making defamation of religion a crime under international law.
But watch what the Obama administration does, not just what it says. I'm not talking about its attacks on Fox News. I'm talking about a little-publicized October 2 resolution in which Clinton's own State Department joined ***Islamic nations*** in adopting language all-too-friendly to censoring speech that some religions and races find offensive.
The ambiguously worded United Nations Human Rights Council resolution could plausibly be read as encouraging or even obliging the U.S. to make it a crime to engage in hate speech, or, perhaps, in mere "negative racial and religious stereotyping." This despite decades of First Amendment case law protecting such speech.
Worshippers at one of Britain’s biggest mosques reacted to the Fort Hood shooting yesterday by saying Muslims who serve in the Armed Forces are complicit in killing their “brothers and sisters” in Afghanistan.However, a Muslim ex-soldier who twice served in Afghanistan said that the shooting could not be justified by any mainstream interpretation of Islam. Speaking to The Times after Friday prayers at East London mosque, young Muslim men said the lives of those who follow Islam were of more value than those of non-believers. They gave only their first names, claiming that the authorities might place them under investigation.
Mustapha, 26, from South London, said that the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq were wars against Muslims and he would not consider joining the Army nor encourage fellow Muslims to. “I would not fight against my friends and brothers,” the house-builder said. “The Koran says even if you make allies with non-Muslims and join them to kill Muslims, then you die as a non-believer.”
Asked his views on the killings at Fort Hood, he said: “Killing military members is all right. If you are killing people who are fighting against Muslims then that’s okay.”
A struggle ensued, and the two men eventually rolled down a hill. When they came to a stop, the man was straddling Appler, reaching for the handgun holstered on the detective’s belt. Suddenly, Munley appeared, leaped onto the man’s back, yanked him off of Appler and forced him into handcuffs. At that point, Appler said, he heard the theme to Mighty Mouse playing over in his head: “Here I come to save the day.” From that time forward, Appler called Munley: “Mighty Mouse.”

I did a similar thing years ago during the Cincinnati race riots of April 2001, an event that was soon forgotten by almost everyone as a result of 9/11.

Ah, I understand. I barely remember those riots myself!
I did the same thing for the maryland/dc sniper threads and all the 2nd amendment/gun grabber columbine shooting related threads too. Most of the 2nd amendment threads are deleted from fr’s server.. :( there were a LOT of great articles. I don’t think I’ll have time to go back and crosslink them. I might do that for new ones.

Do you get a weird error message on the 2A threads? On a lot of older threads, if you hit refresh (F5) a bunch of times, the thread will eventually load. The Cincy threads are like that.
