snip: “Take this insight into the human person and extrapolate it to social dimension, and you can see that the entire society conducts its life in the same DionysianApollonian tensional field. And these days, it seems the emphasis has clearly shifted toward the Dionysian “pole.” That is, to disorder.”
John of Damascene pointed to the pre-flood world as the birthplace of Gnosticism. Gnosticism he said, arose out of the barbarianism of the pre-flood world. Barbarianism in the sense of which John speaks of it means: every man did what was right in his own eyes. And in the background were demons, under whose influence were all men except a remnant.
Was it merely coincidence that Nietzsche foretold the coming of amoral ‘supermen’ who would stand beyond good and evil or did his prophecy have the same source as his Thus Spake Zarathustra? In that Zarathustra is now known to have been the product of two ‘mystical encounters’ had by Nietzsche, my money is on the same mystical encounter as the source for his prophecy.
Nietzsche’s superman prophecy bears an eerie similarity to predictions made by Ascended Master DK in what he called The Plan for the restarting of the cosmic battle that began in the pre-flood world.
During the 1940s DK made use of Alice Baily in the same way that Nietzsche’s ‘guide’ made use of him and the same way Maitreya makes use of Benjamin Creme (and others) and Barbara Marx Hubbards’ spirit master “christ’ makes use of her. Over a period of 7 years, a nameless unseen entity used an atheist Jewish woman to write down A Course In Miracles, which today Oprah Winfrey obligingly broadcasts the teachings of on her show and radio program to millions of gullible people. Once we begin digging into this sort of thing, what comes to light is mind-boggling.
What did DK prophecy? In part, that between 10-20% of the world’s population would become completely possessed, and that through them, the “Father of Disorder, Lies, Nihilism, Anarchy” (etc)would arrive and the final destruction of the old order would take place. In other words, as it was in the beginning, so it would be again.
Dostoevsky foresaw this as well. And when he spoke of men like Marx, Nechaeyev,Bakunin, et al, it was in this way: ‘they were possessed but did not realize it until it was too late.’ The ‘isms’ said Dostoevsky, were demons, hence those who took the ‘isms’ into their minds-souls were ‘eaten by the ideas.’
As you astutely pointed out betty, the pole shifts ever more toward disorder, and no wonder, given the enormous increase in demonic activity. Solzhenitsyn saw it, so do many others.
That seems to be the main motif of "our age," dear spirited irish!
Back in in 1978, Solzhenitsyn gave his world-famous address to Harvard. At that time, I was working on the other side of the river Charles; but I swear, I could hear the cries of pain and howling dissension emanating from that august community, on that occasion. They were howling like "stuck pigs." And I could hear it, literally, from as far away as Chestnut Hill....
Gurus who profit from social disorder and work themselves up to a fever pitch to "instantiate it" into the public body have no use for a Solzhenitsyn. For Solzhenitsyn is a man of order.
They, of course, were the would-be "supermen" of their time. They didn't like the way Solzhenitsyn cut them down into the fatuity and petty arrogance of their "world-beater" prescriptions for the future of humanity under their expert "guidance."
From my seat in Chestnut Hill, it sounded a good deal like the rending of Dionysus by the menaeids....
