Sarah Palin notably absent from gubernatorial races
Politico ^ | October 9, 2009 | Jonathan Martin

Posted on 10/09/2009 6:49:38 AM PDT by GoldStandard

Sarah Palin stands ready to stump for the Republican gubernatorial candidates running in the two most closely-watched campaigns in the country this fall, but neither seems to want her help.

Less than a month before voters go to the polls, it appears increasingly clear that the former Alaska governor, vice-presidential nominee and conservative favorite will not appear on behalf of either New Jersey’s Chris Christie or Virginia’s Bob McDonnell.

Palin is the only one of the most talked-about potential 2012 presidential candidates who has not yet campaigned for either Republican candidate.

Another day, another Palin hit piece from Leftists trash site Politico.

Yo Politico what are you so afraid of? All this time an effort on someone who apparently is so unwelcome and unwanted in the GOP?

BTW, Politico staff, apologized yet for getting it completely wrong how much much Palin is making on the Speakers circuit yet?

Politico is not a reliable news source, it’s infested with wannabe Beltway insiders and lefties.

McDonnell doesn’t need anyone’s endorsement, including Palin’s, since he’s demonstrably way ahead of the Rat loser.

Duh.

Yes, Sarah Palin's conservative political views dovetails with Free Republic's political views. That does not mean that all FReepers have a realistic chance of being elected President in November 2012.

What, exactly, can Sarah Palin say about being a Governor?

"I quit my job as Governor of Alaska before my first term expired in order to get my autobiography written in record time before the Christmas shopping season and rake in the Big Bucks"?

There is enough Affirmative Action on the Planet Earth already with the Left-wing Nobel Prize Committee awarding the Nobel Peace Prize to Obama without conservatives adding to the problem just because Palin shares our politics and she happens to be female and cute.

Being "the most talked-about" is not necessarily a good thing.

New Jersey is a squishy state. They never seem to learn and Palin would polarize the squishy ones. Besides, Christy isn't much better than Corzine. Christy and Palin have NOTHING in common. It doesn't make sense when you THINK about it.

Christie is a RINO and doesn't want her help. McDonnell is way ahead in the polls and doesn't need her help.

RINOs, being RINOs would rather lose to a corrupt Democrat than accept the help of a conservative. Case in point: John McCain, who muzzled Sarah and rushed to Washington to vote with his fellow RINOs for the bank bailout precisely at the one and only point in the election campaign where he actually led ObaMao in the polls.

If I were Sarah, I wouldn’t want to be associated with Christy. He’s not much better than Corzine.

Having said that, as usual, we need to vote for Christy - the RHINO since he is a tad better than Corzine.

I’ll agree with that.

If Sarah Palin was instead a man named Samuel Palin, who had the same quotes, ideals, experience, track-record, etc.; would this hypothetical Samuel Palin have ever been picked as McCain’s VP or considered seriously as a potential presidential candidate in 2012?

Sarah Palin has benefited greatly from simply being a non-white male.

“The governor offered her assistance with both races,” said Palin adviser Meg Stapleton. “The ball is in their court.”

Mistake. This is a case where they, or anyone else, should wait for the invitation rather than offering their help publicly.

But isn't there another, even more conspicuous absence from these two races? Barack Obama, who has asked him to campaign? Has he been to either state to campaign.

psssst - that type of Palin cynicism can make you very unpopular around here. Try this:

In 2012 Palin Will win all 50 states in a landslide, then in her first year she will outlaw all abortions nationally, win the WOT, cut taxes, reduce unemployment back to 3%, replace all oil importation with domestic drilling, bring the dollar back, and pass tort reform. She will be easily re-elected in 2016.

Except, she's most likely not even running for anything. But we can wet dream, right?

Yes, Sarah Palin’s conservative political views dovetails with Free Republic's political views. That does not mean that all FReepers have a realistic chance of being elected President in November 2012.”

It doesn't mean she won't be elected president either. I am sure you saw the poll which had more conservatives than liberals in every single state in this country. It was posted several times right on this site.

What, exactly, can Sarah Palin say about being a Governor?

“I quit my job as Governor of Alaska before my first term expired in order to get my autobiography written in record time before the Christmas shopping season and rake in the Big Bucks”?”

Oh Puleeze!
If you want to parrot moronic loony left talking points,
Keith Olberman does it better than you any day.
Sarah Plain did more in the over 2 years that she was governor, than most governors do in two full terms. It's not for nothing she had the highest approval rating of ANY governor in the entire country.
It's not the number of years you live on this planet. Its what you actually achieve in the time God gave you on this earth. You are mistaking number of years served with what is actually achieved.

There is enough Affirmative Action on the Planet Earth already with the Left-wing Nobel Prize Committee awarding the Nobel Peace Prize to Obama without conservatives adding to the problem just because Palin shares our politics and she happens to be female and cute.”

Now why don't I counter with, “There is more idiocy from the DU crowd, without so-called Freepers coming up with such mindless drivel”?
If Sarah Plain were to become president, she would have won it based on solid achievements, over and above anything that 0bama had ever done before he became president.
And oh, it's perfectly alright to vote for someone that shares one's political beliefs. That's exactly how one is supposed to vote.

Being “the most talked-about” is not necessarily a good thing.”

Being the most talked about for writing cerebral, high brow articles in the Wall Street Journal (the most prestigious daily newspaper in the country), is hardly in the same league as appearing in the National Enquirer, which is exactly the kind of comparison you tried to make with your ridiculous comparison of Sarah Palin to an idiot boy appearing in the tabloid gutter press.
How do people like you sleep at night anyways?
You post is about one of the most pathetic, ham handed, poor, attempts at a hatched job I have seen on FR for the past week at least. It's laughable and contemptible, and it's not working.

Hmmmmm..lemme see...
Now I wonder if the fact that McCain wasn't getting much support from conservatives, and Sarah Plain had excellent conservative credentials had anything to do with it?
Or that Sarah Palin had fought and beaten back corruption even in her own party in Alaska.
Or that Sarah Plain had the highest approval rating of any Governor in the country.
Or that Sarah Plain had achieved more in her 2 years in office than most governors achieve in 2 terms.

/sarc Of course none of that had absolutely anything to do with anything. Its the fact that she had breasts that did it yes Siree./ sarc.

I admire Sarah Palin a great deal and I wish we had a country full of young women who strived to be just as smart, principled, and confident. She alluded once to sexism during the campaign and I hope she speaks freely about it in the future.

Two signs will reveal if Palin is even thinking about running:

1) Palin writes a second book that’s heavy on public policy.

2) Palin appears on all the week day cable shows and Sunday pundit shows to debate and justify the ideas in her second book.

Until she does the 2 things above, it is safe to assume she isn’t running.

1) Palin writes a second book that’s heavy on public policy.”

It's pretty clear to me she is running. She wouldn't vigorously join the debate on serious policy issues like Health Care, Afghanistan, the massive deficits, the weakening dollar etc, and set up a strong PAC if she had decided to retire from politics.
As for the second book on public policy, I am going to bet she is going to bring out such a book..just in time to launch her run for the presidency n 2012.

2) Palin appears on all the week day cable shows and Sunday pundit shows to debate and justify the ideas in her second book.”

No!
She's better off appearing on Rush, Hannity, Beck and Fox. She should ignore the State Run Media. In fact she needs to totally ignore the State Run Media in lunching her book, which will nevertheless go on to become the biggest selling political book ever, further DE-legitimizing the State Run Media and their power to influence things.

This is an old story recylced from a few months ago. Interesting to note that Chrisie was way ahead at the time, and now he’s on the verge of losing. He’s just another corrupt RINO anyway, I’m glad Palin didn’t get asked to campaign for him. McDonnell was also way way ahead, but now his lead has shrunk to 3 or 4 points. He may still win. The reason why Romney, Huckabee, Pawlenty and Jindal were all invited to campaign is simply because nobody cares what any of them do, and the tiny crowds they draw prove that. On the other hand, Palin would draw huge crowds, and the story would be primarily about her, and McDonnell would barely be mentioned. It may be a case of ego on McDonnell’s part. I read that even the 0bama people have pulled out of VA, not wanting any of 0bama’s growing unpopularity to hurt the dems chances in VA. A poll there a few weeks ago showed that people really didn’t want outsiders, including Palin and 0bama involved in their election.

McDonnell, as of today has a 9 pt. lead ahead of Deeds (based on liberally biased polls) - technically he doesn’t need the help. It would certainly be nice to see her make an appearance at the very end like she did with Chambliss - I would certainly drive down from MD to go see it!

McDonnell has never said anything negative, that I’m aware of, about Palin. I think he had even mentioned when the polls didn’t show much of a gap that he would be happy to have her there - things may have changed as far as responses and correspondence when she went back to private life - or who knows - could be a nice end of October surprise - she does have a big fan base in Virginia! :)

You've bought the left's narrative hook, line and sinker.
It has nothing to do with "affirmative action." The reason why Palin has the support she does is because people can relate to her. She is a wife, Mother, and a working woman.
By the way, the "quitter" arguments doesn't wash anymore. True supporters of Palin know why she resigned and support her decision.

Nah, I think you’re just another Palin-drone.

I'm a Palin drone and I support her because of her strong record of reform, her outsider status, and the fact that she's not a GOP country-clubber.

One would have to blind or knowingly-ignorant to think Sarah Palin didn’t get picked as McCain’s VP nominee mostly because of the simple little fact that Palin is a woman.

She was chosen because she shared the same independent streak that McCain has. Granted, McCain's "independent" is 360 degrees away from Palin's, but that was the specific reason why she was chosen and her gender had very little to do with it.

What’s your point? One would have to be blind or knownigly ignorant to think that George W Bush didn’t get picked as the nominee of the GOP in 2000 mostly because he was the son of the fmr President. If his name was George Perry, the Governor of TX, he never would have been considered.

One would have to be blind or ignorant to think that Clarence Thomas didn’t get picked to the Supreme Court mostly because he was a black guy to replace Thurgood Marshall.

One would have to be blind or ignorant to think that Ronald Reagan didn’t get tabbed to run for Governor of CA in 1966 largely because he was a big time Hollywood star. If he hadn’t been in movies he never would have become President.

One would have to beblind or ignorant to think that Obama became the huge figure he has mostly because he’s black(or 50% black). If he was a 1st term white liberal he’d have been Sheldon Whitehouse, and I don’t see anyone making a big deal about him. Would he have even been a state Senator, been tapped for the IL seat in 2004 if he was the normal Dick Durbin/Paul Simon white guy from IL? Would Oprah and all these celebrities have backed him? Would Emil Jones have been his godfather and set him up with the Daley machine? Would John Kerry have asked some white guy with his resume to give his keynote address in the 2004 convention or did Obama’s background and story really give him a huge leg up with that speech which basically made his entire life?

Lots of people in politics get places because of their race or gender or name or background or things like that.

Yes, she was picked largely because she was a woman. Same as McCain’s entire political career and brand is because he was a POW. Same as W’s name helped him. Same as everyone fell all over Obama because he’s half-black.

Her popularity though has nothing to do with being a woman. If McCain had named Kay Bailey Hutchison, Olympia Snowe, Meg Whitman, Condi Rice or any other numbr of women as his VP, they wouldn’t have made the impact that Palin has.

Is this that hour long “Special Comment” that Keith Olbermann was supposed to give this week?

These odd year gubernatorial races tend to heat up in the last 10 days or so before voting. Why would McDonnell bring in the heavy firepower so far in advance? Just the fact that Rom-tards like you want to come in with your ridiculous statements shows the power of Palin, and the weak waterlogged nature of any other “GOP” candidates efforts. Romney Huckster Pawlenty campaigns will all be hamstrung by mushy pandering to the squishers.

I would highly recommend that you stop using those Jon Stewart, SNL, and those mags you posted for your news. I’m sure you feel that Roman Polanski is just an artist being persecuted, Letterman’s staffers were just “falling on the sword” for a great man, and Obama really is a “man of peace.” The problem is that you are looking to State Run Media for validation, a media that gives itself alot of attention, but doesn’t get much from anyone else of consequence. Please step away from the low numbered channels.
