WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama will focus "at the right time" on how to overturn the "don't ask, don't tell" ban on gays serving openly in the military, his national security adviser said Sunday.
"I don't think it's going to be — it's not years, but I think it will be teed up appropriately," James Jones said.
The Democratic-led Congress is considering repealing the 1993 law. Action isn't expected on the issue until early next year.

If this “gay” discrimination is such a grave injustice, violation of constitutional rights and all that, why then, is mere politics deciding what our policies will be??????
I heard somebody quote Barney Frank as wanting this changed in a couple years, after we’ve totally withdrawn from Iraq, and Afghanistan is under better control. That’s telling, in that, Barney figures that military recruitment, morale, and retention will be affected when they go to change the policy.
It will be the same with same-sex marriage. They will move to repeal the federal marriage law when they think the politics are right. Again, if they truly believe that these matters are a gross violation of constitutional rights, how can these liberals hold back working for change due to politics???? Esp. considering that they will lose seats in the 2010 mid-term elections, what are they waiting for??????
“Don’t ask don’t tell” was Clinton’s policy, which is to say, Democrat policy.
