GOVERNOR PALIN ANNOUNCES NO SECOND TERM, NO LAME DUCK SESSION EITHER

GOVERNOR PALIN ANNOUNCES NO SECOND TERM NO LAME DUCK SESSION EITHER July 3, 2009, Anchorage, Alaska – Governor Sarah Palin announced today that she will not seek a second term as Governor of the State of Alaska and will relegate the power of governor to Lieutenant Governor Sean Parnell in order to serve Alaska’s best interests. Lieutenant General Craig Campbell will move into Parnell’s current role.

“People who know me know that besides faith and family, nothing's more important to me than our beloved Alaska,” said Governor Palin. “Serving her people is the greatest honor I could imagine.” Standing outside her home in Wasilla, Alaska, Governor Palin reflected upon some of the administration’s accomplishments for Alaska as she approaches her final year in office. “I am determined to take the right path for Alaska even though it is not the easiest path,” said Governor Palin after the announcement. “Once I decided not to run for re-election, I also felt that to embrace the conventional ‘Lame Duck’ status in this particular climate would just be another dose of ‘politics as usual,’ something I campaigned against and will always oppose. It is my duty to always protect our great state. With that in mind, my family and I determined that it is best to make a difference this summer, and I am willing to change things, so that this administration, with its positive agenda, its accomplishments, and its successful road to an incredible future, can continue without interruption and with great administrative and legislative success. I look forward to helping others – to fight for our state and our country, and campaign for those who believe in smaller government, free enterprise, strong national security, support for our troops, and energy independence.” The transfer of power will occur following the Governor’s picnic in Fairbanks on July 26. At that point in time, Lieutenant Governor Sean Parnell will be sworn in and Lieutenant General Craig Campbell will assume his role as Lieutenant Governor. Governor Palin will spend July 4th in Juneau.

I think many people have forgotten who Palin would be running against for President. Palin is a veteran politician compared to Obama. I don't think with all her accomplishments that too many non-leftist people will call her a "quitter". She may also be trying to kick out Alaska's US Senator Lisa Murkowski or Alaska's US Reperesentative Don Young. We will have to wait and see if this will be a good desicion.

I posted on another thread of the Palin story that I thought that the Fox report might be one I would expect from NBC.

Why don’t we wait a little while before we start hyperventilating and start sticking the fork in? If she isn’t running for president, who could blame her.

I could, if she is quitting due to the dirty tactics of the opposition; but that speech leaves too little to go on. It's very painful news, for a lot of us. We should hold our fire.

It appears to me, however, that if she cannot hold the job of governor because of the heat, she doesn't get to the bigger kitchen. Nothing wrong with that, except in a leader.

It's a sad day.

IMHO, Sarah is calling this JUST AT THE RIGHT TIME !!!!!

July 26th is right on the button. She would have probably lost her job anyway since that will be right after the Putin leg of the Obamassiah’s continuing worldwide “Apology Tour” as I expect him to apologize for the 1867 USA Seward’s Folly “cheap” purchase of Alaska, and immediately return it to Putin.

....from a kneeling position, begging forgiveness of course..

Powerful speech.

I think Sarhah has just turned, like a fed-up mama Bear, on her detractors. She has put things in order, she has left them in the hands of capable people, and she has now turned to face her enemies directly.

...and I think they are going to be sorry. We have smelled the fear in them for a long time. Good on her!

GO SARAH GO!

Not even finishing her first term. Not too good.

I agree, not even finishing her first term as Governor. That's just lousy. I don't know who's advising her.

That's not the way to win over independents.

What impressed me the most is her authentic, articulate and straightforward manner - and all with NO TELEPROMPTER.

while this is an incredibly risk move, she does get advantages from this:

1. She gets away from having to deal with the endless stream of unwarrented ethics complaints brought by the Democratic shills in Alaska. They weren’t going to succeed, but they kept her from focusing on a bigger agenda and spending the needed time.

2. She suddenly has time to take a national role and could be on television every weekend if she wanted in a good way - either fundraising or leading other initiatives...

which brings me to ..

3. What if she takes a big role in attacking the Cap & Trade legislation. It is a huge issue in the national consciousness - one she knows a great deal about and one that public is very skeptical about. It puts her in the national eye, on the right side and in an area where she has great expertise.

A conservative rout for Cap&Trade might also make National healthcare die a quick death.

I think this might be the plan.. but, if she was Governor, she couldn’t take the lead on this.

JMO...

Very sad and very depressing. I hope that she and her family is okay, no health or well being issues and no ethics issues in waiting. I can think of no other valid reasons for her to quit before finishing her term.

She was my last hope for the Presidency and, in many ways, for the country. She is the only person since Reagan who has made me feel that way, who made me want to donate time and money to them and their campaign.

I wish her and her family well and a long and happy retirement from government and all the attacks she has suffered from her enemies in the media and in the republican and demonrat parties.

I add, may her enemies feel the full effects of their karma and the golden rule ten fold. They went after her and her family with a ruthless viciousness. May it all come back at them. She and her family did not deserve it, but they've earned it.

She gave a common sense and honorable reason for stepping down, imo.

She will have time to focus more on national issues, and prepare for another important decision and announcement.

She made it clear, she isn’t retreating but taking the fight in another direction. In 4 years she will be leading the free world.

Sarah has taken an unusual and unconventional step no doubt, but if we take her at her word - and I defy anyone to prove promises broken that are not an interpretation of how to execute their own contrived strategies - it makes sense. Whether she's going for POTUS or Senator or House Rep, she can now concentrate 100% of her time speaking for Americans, a dynamic we are sorely lacking.

She just took the libs game away, and frankly I think it's a brilliant move.

It was without a doubt a couragous move, and far more honest and moral than the pres_ent from the ghettO using his position as Senator strictly as a bully pulpit to launch himself ass first into the oval office.

You got to love a gal who can define the battlefield.
